Training Offered as Part of Service:
New potential volunteer training is offered twice a year to train volunteers on the dynamics of domestic violence & sexual assault (40 Hours
Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention and 40 Hours Domestic Violence Crisis Intervention).
Types of Services Provided:
Provides services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence such as: 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, emergency
transportation, emergency food & clothing, advocacy services, court accompaniment, individual counseling, group counseling, legal assistance
with domestic violence restraining orders, household establishment assistance, training and community education. Also provides information
and referral to other community agencies. Provides prevention programs to jr. high and high schools in the community. A Woman's Place
also, coordinates a quarterly Law Enforcement Round Table and monthly meetings with the Domestic Violence Response Team.
How to Access Service:
Walk-in basis, call 24-hour crisis line, referrals from law enforcement agencies and medical facilities. An assessment is made to determine if
they qualify for our services. If they do not qualify they are referred to the appropriate agency.

A Woman's Place is committed to serving the needs of battered women and their children and of sexual violence regardless of ethnicity,
citizenship, language, religion, physical abilities, sexual orientation or HIV status.

A Woman's Place (AWP) ofMercedCounty is a Domestic Violence and RapeCrisisInterventionCenter.

They are the only Agency in MercedCounty that provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence. Additionally, they are the only Agency in Mercedand MariposaCounties that provides sexual assault services. AWP's bilingual/bicultural staff is "on call" 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, to assist with emergency domestic violence and sexual assault incidents. They provide services such as a 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, services for perpetrators of domestic violence, legal department services, violence prevention services, training and community education, household establishment assistance and emergency food and clothing.
A Woman's Place collaborates with the Merced Co. District Attorney's Office and Local Police Dept. to provide victims with comprehensive and safe domestic violence services. They provide individual/group counseling, walk in crisis counseling, safehouse emergency shelters, survival tips for battered women, advocacy services, court accompaniment and assistance with domestic violence restraining orders.Also, AWP provides support services to sexual assault survivors and their families.
