FINAL PROJECT
The final project is a group project investigating a topic in the field of Computer Science. The topic is determined by the group with approval of the instructor. Students will work in groups of two or three. The quantity and scope of the project must be greater for larger groups.
The project must be related to the field of Computer Science and must expand the knowledge of the project participants. A product of some type must be created as part of the project.
The project proposal must include the following parts:
Project Title: Give the project a name.
Participants: Names of students working on the project for credit. (Other people can be involved in the project as additional resources)
Description: A paragraph describing what the planned project.
Essential Questions: These are 3-4 questions that the group will attempt to answer while working on the project.
Methods: How you will go about completing the project and answering the questions.
Deliverables: What the final product will be.
Project Timeline
March 16 Proposal submitted and approved. The proposal can be modified later with approval of the instructor.
April 27 First Progress Report. Summary of progress including specific team member assignments and next steps
May 12 Second Progress Report. Summary of progress including concerns and presentation plan
May 18 Senior Presentations
May 30/31 Presentations
The project will be graded on the basis of 6 elements:
- Proposal Project title, participants, description, essential questions, methods, and deliverables.
- Participation: Student is regularly working on the project during class.
- Teamwork: All students on the project contribute to the project
- Written Paper: An essay answering the essential questions with appropriate support
- Deliverable: The final product (report, presentation, video, program)
- Presentation: Oral presentation of project to the class. Senior groups will present on 5/18. Other groups on the final exam day
