1. Opening Ceremonies

a) Call to Order

Mayor John Gayle called the meeting to order.

b) Invocation

The Invocation was given by Pastor William Hollimon – New Life Ministries Youth Pastor.

c) Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag

2. Awards and Presentations

a) Special Recognition of 2015-16 Valdosta Youth Council Members.

b) Consideration of the May 2016, Employee of the Month Award (Ronald Shoemake, Robert Mercer, and Lloyd Cummings - Fire Department)

Fire Chief Freddie Broome presented the Employee of the Month Award.

3. Minutes Approval

a) Valdosta City Council - Regular Meeting - Apr 21, 2016 5:30 PM

Minutes were approved by acclamation.

4. Ordinances and Resolutions

a) Consideration of a Resolution authorizing the sale of surplus real estate located at 107 North Troupe Street. Approved (7-0 vote).

5. Local Funding and Requests

a) Consideration of a request for a Letter of Support for a DCA Affordable Housing Renovation Project. Approved (7-0 vote).

6. Boards, Commissions, Authorities, and Advisory Committees

a) Consideration of appointments to the Keep Lowndes-Valdosta Beautiful Board (KLVB).

There were two open positions on this board. Molly Ferrier Roan was reappointed and Audrey King was appointed as a new board member.

b) Consideration of appointments to the Public Art Advisory Committee.

There were three open positions. Pam Scruggs was appointed as an artist, Steve Lahr was appointed as a current Board member and Carol Hartley-Oliver was appointed to the Community-At-Large position.

c) Consideration of an appointment to the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority.

There was one open position on this board; Stan Rome was reappointed to serve.

d) Consideration of an appointment to the Valdosta-Lowndes County Land Bank Authority.

The Valdosta/Lowndes County Landbank Authority had one open position. Councilwoman Sandra Tooley was appointed to serve in that position.

e) Consideration of appointments to the Valdosta Housing Authority.

The Housing Authority had two open positions on their Board. One position was filled by Frank Morman and DeShonda Jenkins was reappointed as the Residential Board member.
