Dawg Daze Adventures
Being wild is experiencing life outside of your comfort zone. To push and believe that you can accomplish something previously thought impossible, or never thought of at all. Engaging in adventure is connecting to your wild side, and enriching your human experience. The raw, natural landscape drives your curiosity to understand the unknown, pushes your willpower to take one-step further than you have before, and inspires you to think larger than yourself. There are many paths you’ll take in life; we want to make sure that a few of them are made of dirt.
On anUWild Adventures for DAWG DAZE Trip, you will be immersed in a collaborative environment where everyone plays an integral role in the trip’s success. Each evening your trip leaders will debrief the day’s challenges and experiences. We fundamentally believe that being pushed outside of your comfort zone in the outdoors creates the best space for personal growth and learning. After your trip, you will be intimately connected to a thriving outdoor community on campus. We are excited for you to join!

PHYSICAL & MENTAL PREPARATION
Physical Preparation
UWild Adventures trips can be physically demanding. However, with some preparation, everyone can participate. Expect to be physically challenged and to have your endurance tested. If you are concerned about the physical challenge of your trip, some prior conditioning can alleviate those issues. Be prepared.
Create an Exercise Plan
Conditioning for an UWild Adventures course involves developing your aerobic fitness by running, biking, swimming or any other activity that stimulates your heart and lungs for at least 30 minutes without stopping. We recommend training five to six days per week, at least 30 minutes each day. A few weeks of endurance exercise will really begin to pay off. If possible, we suggest that you start training at least eight weeks before you start your course. If you have any questions about creating an exercise plan for a specific trip, please contact a program coordinator.
Mental Preparation
You will experience a wide range of emotions during the course from elation to fear, frustration to triumph. The thrill of meeting new challenges individually and as a group is invariably accompanied by moments of stress and uncertainty. Be open to change and be ready to communicate, adapt and utilize your own resources. These qualities will help both you and your group reach emotional highs and deal with emotional lows. Also before you come, you should really think about what you would like to get out of the experience.

Travel costs to/from location are included in the cost of your course. All students will leave from the Waterfront Activities Center (WAC) located on the University of Washington Campus.
