USE OF BUSINESS INCUBATION SPACE (THE HATCH), STUDENTS’ UNION

  1. The Occupant agrees:

1.1That the facilities will only be used for the Relevant Business Purpose.

1.2That the relevant business purpose will be conducted in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with the University’s Health and Safety Policy for Events, all relevant regulations and requirements and any relevant bye-laws.

1.3That all instructions given by University staff with regard to the use of the facilities are strictly complied with.

1.4That the Occupant is required to familiarise him/herself with the layout of the Premises being hired, the positioning of fire appliances and with evacuation procedures, a copy of which is posted in the Premises

1.5That the facilities will be vacated immediately at the end of May 2018 and that all property of persons shall be removed.

  1. Liability for Damages

2.1As soon as practicable after vacation of the Premises, University staff will inspect and note any damage to the Hatch in a Damage Report. The Occupant will be given the opportunity to be present when the inspection is carried out.

2.2The Occupant will be responsible for all damage noted in the Damage Report and will be responsible for their own negligence.

2.3 The Occupant shall not carry out any alternation to the Premises, facilities, alter or change any of the fixtures and fittings, decorations or equipment without first having obtained prior written consent from the University.

3. Indemnity and Insurance

3.1The Occupant shall be responsible for his/her own negligence.

3.2The Occupant shall be solely responsible for the insurance of all equipment brought onto University premises risks of third party, fire and theft.

3.3All such equipment shall be kept at the Premises solely at the risk of the Occupant and the University does not accept any bailment in respect thereof, or liability therefore.

3.4 Whilst the University uses all reasonable endeavours to ensure the safety of all persons and their property whilst on University premises, no responsibility is accepted for the liability of property of any description including money, valuables, luggage, clothing or motor vehicles belonging to the Occupant or their guests.

4.Termination

4.1In the event of any breach or non-observance of these Conditions by the Occupant, or by any person involved in the organisation of the Relevant Event, then the University may revoke with immediate effect the permission to use, or to have continued use of, the facilities.

5.General

5.1The use of the facilities shall include the provision by the University of the heating, lighting, cleaning and toilet facilities.

5.2The University reserves the right to search all equipment, props and settings and all goods and property brought into its premises and to remove anything which it deems to present a security or health and safety hazard.

5.3Furniture and equipment belonging to the University must not be removed from The Hatch at any time.

6. Health & Safety/Fire Precautions

6.1The Occupant shall comply with all relevant provisions of the Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978 and Codes of Practice and Regulations issued or made thereunder, and shall comply with any instructions of the University's Health and Safety Officer.

6.2In line with UK law for smoking in public places, all University buildings are non-smoking buildings. There are designated smoking areas on the University premises.

7. Compliance with General Law & Statutory Requirements

7.1The Occupant shall not permit any illegal or any immoral or indecent activities to occur on University Premises.

7.2The Occupant shall observe all the foregoing and all other statutory requirements or codes of practice issued under statutory authority, and shall not do anything by reason of which the University might become liable to proceedings under any statute or liable to other legal process.

The Hatch is open for your use between the hours of 8:30 am and 10 pm strictly.

You must sign the key out from SU Reception and sign it back in when you are leaving The Hatch. At no time should the key be anywhere other than with you in The Hatch or with SU reception as other student business may require access.

Occasionally due to large events taking place within the Students’ Union such as Graduation, Q-Con or Freshers’ Fair etc. we will require you to temporarily vacate the facility for a short time. A minimum of 2 weeks’ notice will be given and all personal belongings must be removed during this time
