XI STATE AWARDS LUNCHEON

FRIDAY, JUNE 5, 2015

UPPER CRAVENS HALL, UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH

The Xi State Organization Awards Luncheon was held in Upper Cravens Hall at the University of the South on Friday, June 5, 2015 and began at 11:45 a.m. (CDT).

Diane Homan, Alpha Epsilon, welcomed members to the Awards Luncheon on behalf of Alpha Epsilon chapter.

The Xi State Chorus directed by Julie Hughes, Alpha Xi, and accompanied by Janice Enck, Alpha Lambda, presented a musical blessing.

Following the luncheon, Beverly Smith, Xi State President, welcomed everyone thanked Alpha Epsilon and Alpha Delta chapters for the decorations.

Dr. Beverly Hall, Alpha Rho, Membership Chair presented the membership awards on behalf of the Xi State Membership committee. Hall began the awards by recognizing members for their longevity in the Society.

She recognized 10, 20, 30, 40-year members:

10 Year (2005):

20 Year (1995):Dr. Kathie Harned, Paula Marshall

30 Year (1985):Teresa Moore Brown, Carol Burden, Edna Clemons, Dr. Annette Gregory

40 Year (1975):

Hall then presented awards to Alpha Lambda for having the highest number of its members in attendance at convention and to Alpha Xi for having the highest percentage of its membership at convention. Hall continued with a special recognition of Alpha Lambda chapter with the highest percentage of growth last year.

Xi State Vision Foundation Chair, Dr. Kathleen Kester, Beta,announced the new Visionaries: Iota Chapter, Alpha Lambda Chapter, Beverly Smith, and Marjorie Casteel.

She also made these Vision Foundation Awards: Doris Ann Hendrix Project Grant Recipient: Lynn Cole, Kappa, “Bullying Prevention Curriculum, Grades K-6”; Marilyn Ivey Project Grant Recipient: Marsha Rains, Omega, “Colonial Capers”; Vision Foundation Project Grant Recipients: Dr. Mary Elaine Vaughan, Alpha Epsilon, “Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk: Applying Real-World Science and Mathematics”; and Tammy Williamson, Alpha Lambda, “Califone, Got It Student Response System”and the Liz Whorley Bradley Professional Growth Award to Audra Flippo, Alpha Rho, “National Association of Agricultural Educators,” National Conference, New Orleans.

Linda McCrary presented an award to Lindsay Mullins, Alpha Lambda from the Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Foundation Cornette ?????

Elaine Warwick, Rho, presented information regarding the U.S. Forum in Savannah, GA on July 17, 2015.

Xi State Special Events Chair, Dr. Elaine Vaughan, Alpha Epsilon, gave Silent Auction information.

Xi State Second Vice-President, Lynn Caruthers, Phi, made announcements.

President Smith recognized the members of the Xi State Organization Convention Steering Committee,table hostesses and pages, and the workshop presenters. She also announced that $1,556 was donated today during the luncheon for scholarships.

The luncheon ended at 1:19 p.m. (CDT).
