Update on PITR Technology Grants to Providers

The Provider Information Technology Readiness (PITR) Grants will be ending on June 30, 2008. The information that follows is being provided for the benefit of PITR Grant Recipients as they continue to utilize the computer equipment for the purposes of the grant going forward.

Help Desk Calls: As of July 1, 2008, please no longer contact EEC’s Help Desk with PITR related questions. PITR Grant Recipients should seek assistance through their own I/T staff or they may contact the resources outlined below.

Internet Access: Owners of PITR computer systems will continue to be responsible for any charges related to their internet connection/access. Providers and/or Systems (as applicable) are responsible for paying Galaxy for any past due invoice amount and any additional amounts associated with internet access and/or CIPA filters.

Child Information Protection Act (CIPA) filter protection and e-mail accounts: As of July 1, 2008, owners of the PITR computer systems will be responsible for any charges associated with ongoing CIPA Filter protections or new CIPA Filters, as well as any costs associated with e-mail accounts (establishing new accounts or maintaining existing e-mail accounts). For services related to the setting up or continuation of a CIPA Filter and/or e-mail address, you may contact Galaxy Internet Services at 1-888-642-5299 or (617) 558-0900 or via e-mail at .

Re-imaging of computers, repair and/or maintenance of PITR computer systems: Owners of PITR computer systems will continue to be responsible for any costs associated with re-imaging of their PITR computer systems and/or any maintenance or repair costs associated with such systems.

Warranty related questions: For the computer (3 year warranty), monitor (3 year warranty), and printer (1 year warranty), you may contact CBE’s service department at 1-800-937-8324 or via e-mail at . Please note: There may be charges associated with any such assistance provided by CBE.

For non-warranty related services such as computer software re-imaging, internet setup, redistribution and parts replacement: You may contact CBE at 1-800-937-8324 or via e-mail at . Please inquire with CBE as to the charges which apply to such services.

PITR Inventory Form: All installations or retrievals of PITR computers should continue to be recorded on the PITR Install and Retrieval Sheet through June 30, 2008. A receipt copy of the PITR Install and PITR Retrieval Sheet should be given to the PITR grant recipient as the PITR computer system is installed at or retrieved from the Provider’s facility. A copy is to be retained for the System’s file and one copy is to be faxed to the Program Manager at EEC at 1-617-988-2451. Please remember all installations also require a Microsoft End User License Agreement (EULA) Form to be wet-ink signed and mailed to EEC to the attention of the PITR Program Manager.

Microsoft End User License Agreement (EULA): All 2006 PITR grant recipients who received the PITR computer during the roll out and all new Programs who received a PITR computer system through redistribution are required to review, wet-ink sign, and abide by the Microsoft End User License Agreement (EULA). FFC Systems / Parent Entities should print two copies of the EULA PDF and have the Program manager wet-ink sign the EULA and write in the Program number in the upper left corner of the front page of the EULA. FFC Systems / Parent Entities are required mail an original wet-ink signed EULA to EEC. One copy of the EULA should remain with the Program receiving the PITR computer. Any child care programs who continue using the computer systems after the grant term, will continue to be bound to the terms outlined in the EULA they signed associated with such computer.

PITR Image DVD Sets: Any PITR Grant Recipient or other party who may have received a PITR Image DVD Set should return such set to EEC by June 30, 2008.

PITR Update Report
The final PITR Update Report must be submitted to EEC by June 30, 2008. A sample report may be accessed at PITRQuarterlyUpdateReportforFCCSystemPITRGrantRecipients.xls and must be submitted via e-mail (and by regular mail if there are attachments, for example, a police report, signed EULA, etc.) to EEC’s Help Desk ( ). In the event any redistribution of computers occurred during the quarter being reported, the System/parent entity must attach a copy of the child care license for the provider receiving the redistributed computer and a signed EULA for each provider.

Ownership After Grant Term: The PITR Grant ends on June 30, 2008. At the end of the grant, the PITR computer systems will be owned by the System/parent entity/independent provider/family child care provider that owns them as of June 30, 2008. After the grant ends, Systems/parent entities that own such systems should continue to allow their affiliated family child care programs/programs to use the computer systems in accordance with the goals of the PITR Grant. Additionally, any child care programs who continue using the computer systems after the grant term, will continue to be bound to the terms outlined in the EULA they signed associated with such computer.

Please note: Where applicable, family child care programs affiliated with FCC Systems (who were PITR Grant Recipients) should refer to any agreement they may have with such System that sets forth the terms or conditions associated with the use, maintenance, ownership, etc. related to any PITR computer system.
