October 2008 meeting News

The October 2008 meeting will be held on October 6-9 in Chicago (Northbrook, IL at UL headquarters)

1. MEETING PLACE

The meeting will be held at the IEEE in Piscataway, New Jersey at the following address:

When you arrive at the IEEE, park in the visitors parking lot located in the front of the building. Enter through the revolving door and sign in each day at the reception desk.

Note: All visitors must be notified to the IEEE in advance so that badges can be prepared for security purposes. No one can enter the IEEE without a badge. Those who have been identified in advance can pick up their badge at the entrance reception desk.

The receptionist will provide a temporary visitors badge and arrange for someone to escort you to the conference center where your meeting is being held.

2. MEETING DATES AND HOURS – the meeting will begin as shown.

3. EQUIPMENT RESERVED

Microphones, Podium, Power Strips, Overhead and LCD Projector.

Copier machine is located in the conference center nearby the meeting room.

4. FOOD FUNCTIONS

There is a cafeteria located on the first floor of the IEEE which will be used for lunch and coffee/tea breaks which is paid by each attendee. Lunch is between 11:30 am and 1 PM. The cafeteria closes at 2:30 PM and hence any afternoon break should be done before then. There may be a possibility for coffee/tea in the meeting room throughout the day up to 2:30 PM with prior arrangement. If there is a sponsor for the food functions, the food can be catered into the meeting room or a room adjacent to it.

5. PARKING There is adequate free parking at the front of the IEEE building

Directions traveling

From Interstate Route 287

From North of Piscataway: Take I-287 South to Exit 8, Centennial Avenue. At the end of the exit ramp, continue straight through the traffic signal onto Knightsbridge Rd. At the second traffic signal, turn right on Hoes Lane. The IEEE is on the left about 1/4 mile. Turn left onto Sidney Road to enter the IEEE parking areas.

From South of Piscataway: Take 287 North to Exit 7, South Randolphville Road. At the bottom of the ramp turn left and continue on South Randolphville Road, through three lights. After the third light the road narrows. Continue on Behmer Road. After crossing a small bridge, turn left onto Sidney Road. The IEEE complex will be on the right near the end of Sidney Road.

From NewarkAirport

Follow signs to New Jersey Turnpike SOUTH. Exit at Exit 10 (Signs will say Edison, 287, Outerbridge Crossing.) After the toll plaza, take 287 NORTH for approximately 5.5 miles, and Exit at South Randolphville Road. Follow directions from Route 287 above. A taxi from NewarkAirport costs approximately $50.00 one way,and takes about 45 minutes, depending on traffic.

From Route 18

Take Route 18 North through New Brunswick and over the JohnLynchBridge. Pass through the four lane intersection and remain in the right lane. After the intersection Route 18 becomes Metlars Lane. Immediately after the first traffic light on Metlars Lane, move to the right for the exit for Hoes Lane. Proceed onto Hoes Lane. At the sixth traffic signal, turn right onto Sidney Road. Turn left into the IEEE visitor parking area.

By Train

Take Amtrak to Metropark Train station (Iselin, NJ). Taxis are available at the

Station, or phone Checker Cab 634-8300. Approximate fare to IEEE is $25.00. Note: Amtrak no longer serves New Brunswick frequently, but Metropark enjoys frequent service, including Metroliners.

From Pennsylvania Station, New York City, New Jersey Transit trains run on a regular schedule all day. For NJT schedules call 800-772-2222 in New Jersey or 201-762-5100 out of state). Buy ticket to New Brunswick.

Take Yellow Cab (246-2222) or Victory Taxi (545-6666) to the IEEEOperationsCenter, 445 Hoes Lane, Piscataway. The fare is approximately $10.00. The trip takes about 15 minutes.

There are automatic teller machines at Metropark and New Brunswick stations.

7. LOCATION AND TRANSPORTATION

The IEEE is a 30-45 minute taxi drive from NewarkAirport and 90 minutes from JFKAirport or LaGuardiaAirport.
