“unpluckable People”

John 10:22 – 30

Relevant Question: “What will unpluckable people do?”

1) They will believe on Jesus [v25]

2) They will hear Jesus’ voice [v27]

3) They will never perish [v28]

1) Once saved, always saved. [T] or [F]

×  Sermon > TRUE. The statement is true as long as the person is truly saved and redeemed. The real danger of a phrase like this is that people become spiritually complacency and spoiled on grace. The only true test of salvation is the life we live defined by our actions and behavior.

×  Romans 6:1-2 “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”

2) The difference between saved and unsaved folk is their life style choices. [T] or [F]

×  Sermon > true. Since we have been redeemed, we ought to behave like The Redeemer. After all, our redemption was accomplished on Calvary’s rugged cross because Jesus had the power to lay down His life (sacrifice for sin) and had the power to take it up again (resurrection from the dead). Believing that produces redemption.

×  Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

×  Sermon > The difference between sinner and saint is that their talk exactly matches their walk. The distinction between lost and found people is how they handle the storms of life.

3) What is the cause for the failure to be redeemed or for backsliding?

______

×  Sermon > The fault and failure is a neglect to fully surrender to Jesus Christ. That is, if we fall at any stage in our spiritual life, it is not from want of Divine Grace or from the overwhelming power of our adversary Satan, but from our neglect to surrender fully to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We cannot be protected against ourselves, in spite of ourselves.

×  Sermon > We must surrender our will to Christ immediately, not a little now and some later. The Believer may sometime wander or “backslide” for a while, yet one cannot slide back into SIN if one never left SIN.

×  Sermon > The only test of whether you are Jesus’ sheep or not is that Jesus’ sheep hears His voice and follows Him. When God saves us, we are saved once and for all, and our redemption is in full effective. That is, “once saved always saved.”

×  v28-29 > “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.”

×  Phil 1:6 > “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

4) The primary purpose of redemption is to ______.

[a] To renew lives.

[b] To reconcile relationships.

[c] To glorify God.

[d] To reunite homes and families.

[e] All of the above

×  Sermon e = Yes. Each of the above statements is accurate and validates the purpose of redemption. Redemption is an incredible blessing for us, but blessing us is not the primary purpose of redemption. God’s glory is most prominent.

×  Sermon Since the main purpose of redemption is to glorify God, then it explains the people in our lives, the events we encounter, and the circumstances we face. People, events, and circumstances are a matter of how God chooses to allow each of us to glorify Him. Glorifying God explains our sufferings, sicknesses, and sorrows.

×  1Cor 6:20 > “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

5) What is (are) the reason(s) for our acceptance of redemption (salvation)?

[a] To escape damnation.

[b] To find personal peace.

[c] To obtain a better life.

[d] To return God’s love and affection.

[e] All of the above

×  Sermon D = Yes. Redemption is about returning to God the love and affliction He has shown to each of us. Redemption is about loving God the Father and glorifying Christ the Savior.

×  John 3:16 > “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

×  Sermon The reason for accepting our redemption is not to escape damnation, neither to find personal peace, nor to make life better. That is, redemption is not about finding the God we want, but rather surrendering to the God who is so as to express our love back to Him. Redemption is about fearing or reverencing God, it’s about obeying God’s commandments, and it’s about living with God forever. The way we express our love for God is by worshipping God in spirit and in truth.

×  John 4:24 > “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
