A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Daniel H. McKenzie upon the occasion of his retirement from the Mountain Telephone Cooperative.
With respect and admiration, we pay tribute to Daniel H. McKenzie.
WHEREAS, the Mountain Telephone Cooperative in West Liberty, Kentucky, provides local, long distance, and Internet telecommunications service to more than 15,000 customers in Elliott, Menifee, Morgan, and Wolfe counties; and
WHEREAS, Daniel H. McKenzie began his career with the Mountain Telephone Cooperative on August 24, 1970; he was promoted to Assistant Manager in January, 1982, and he became General Manager in July, 1990; and
WHEREAS, for more than thirty years of dedicated service, Daniel H. McKenzie played an integral role in the day-to-day activities of the Mountain Telephone Cooperative, and under his direction as General Manager, the company's customer base increased fifty percent over the past ten years; and
WHEREAS, Daniel H. McKenzie was the recipient of the Mountain Telephone Cooperative 2000 Friend of Education Award for his support in the technology development and infrastructure of area education; he received the Gateway Area Development District Corporate Citizen of the Year Award; and he has received Certificates of Appreciation for service or support from Morehead State University, Menifee County High School, Morgan County Future Farmers Association, and the Elliott County Veterans of Foreign Wars; and
WHEREAS, Daniel H. McKenzie is the devoted husband of Sandy McKenzie, the loving father of Stephen and Amy, and the proud grandfather of Patrick, Emily, Conner, and McKenzie; and
WHEREAS, Daniel H. McKenzie retired from the Mountain Telephone Cooperative on March 5, 2001;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby hail and commend our native son, Daniel H. McKenzie, for his immeasurable contributions to the Mountain Telephone Cooperative and for the many worthwhile services he has provided the citizens of his community. We wish to him continued success in all future endeavors.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does in honor of Daniel H. McKenzie upon the occasion of his retirement from the Mountain Telephone Cooperative in West Liberty, Kentucky, on March 5, 2001.
