A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of R. O. Buchanon Jr.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to R. O. Buchanon Jr., and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, R. O. Buchanon Jr. was born on March 4, 1926, a native of Allen County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on September 4, 2005; and

WHEREAS, R. O. Buchanon Jr. was the loving son of the late Ruby Ottis and Pernie Taylor Buchanon, and he also was preceded in death by two sisters, Gwen Marr and Bonnie Leath; he was the devoted husband of 57 years to Juanita Cooper Buchanon; he was the loving father of three children, Sharon Elaine Dyrsen, Michael Ottis Buchanon, and Pamela Suzanne Cosby; he was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren and he was the proud great-grandfather of two great-grandchildren; and he also leaves behind two sisters, Iris Cline and Nancibell Buchanon, and two brothers, Riley Buchanon and Kermit Kenneth Buchanon; and

WHEREAS, R. O. Buchanon Jr. served his country with pride and honor in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, where he served in the Pacific theater; and

WHEREAS, R. O. Buchanon Jr. was a farmer, and he raised 200 head of cattle on a 350 acre farm; he also worked with the Life and Casualty Company in Allen County, and in 1960, he began his 35 year service with Farm Bureau; and

WHEREAS, R. O. Buchanon Jr. was an esteemed member of the Allen County community; he was a devout member of Glendale Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Auditorium Bible Class, and on many occasions he would serve as an usher to receive the offering; and his faithfulness was demonstrated by his perfect attendance and his financial support of the church; and

WHEREAS, the passing of R. O. Buchanon Jr. has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow at the passing of R. O. Buchanon Jr., and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of R. O. Buchanon Jr.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Juanita Cooper Buchanon, 833 Culpeper Street, Bowling Green, Kentucky 42103.
