A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Private First Class James W. Price.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Private First Class James W. Price, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, James William Price was born on July 22, 1982, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, raised in Florida, and he traversed these earthly bounds on September 18, 2004; and

WHEREAS, James W. Price was the loving son of Darlene Howell of Vine Grove, Kentucky, and the loving stepson of Dudley J. Howell, who predeceased him in death; he was the caring and protecting brother of a sister, April Howell, and a brother, Joseph Howell; he was the beloved grandson of Joy Andies and Freda Sender; and he also leaves behind many other loving family members; and

WHEREAS, James W. Price graduated from Bushnell High School in Bushnell, Florida, where he enjoyed playing tuba in the school band and being on the track team; and

WHEREAS, following high school, James W. Price attended Chattanooga State Community College in Chattanooga, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, James W. Price joined the Army as a communications specialist and served three and one-half years of active duty; he was assigned to the Army 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, based in Fort Hood, Texas; and

WHEREAS, Private James W. Price was mobilized to Iraq as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle system mechanic, bravely supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom; and

WHEREAS, on September 18, 2004, the life of Private First Class James W. Price ended prematurely when an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle in Baghdad, Iraq; and

WHEREAS, Private James W. Price served his country with honor and distinction; he was buried with full military honors; and he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star; and

WHEREAS, Private James W. Price was highly regarded by all who knew him as an energetic young man with a bright future before him; and he had many interests, including surfing on the beaches of Florida; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Kentucky has the highest respect for Private James W. Price and is deeply grateful for the sacrifice he made for the freedom of all Americans and to ensure the freedom of the Iraqi people; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Private James W. Price has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Private First Class James W. Price and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Private First Class James W. Price.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the mother of Private James W. Price, Ms. Darlene Howell, 122 Mitchell Drive, Vine Grove, Kentucky 40175.
