A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of the 1997 United States Youth Soccer National Champions in the Under-16 Division.
WHEREAS, the Under-16 Javanon team from Louisville, Kentucky has been the Kentucky State Cup Champions in its age division for the last three years; and
WHEREAS, as 1997 Kentucky State Champions, the Javanon team defeated state champions from 13 midwestern states to become Region IV Champions; and
WHEREAS, as 1997 Regional Champions, the Javanon team competed in the Final Four in Youth Soccer at the United States Youth Soccer National Championships in Phoenix, Arizona last summer; and
WHEREAS, the Javanon team defeated its regional opponents and became the first Kentucky team in history to capture the national championship; and
WHEREAS, in addition to winning the national championship, the Javanon team was unanimously selected by the four regional directors of the United States Youth Soccer Association to win the coveted Snickers Fair Play Award for its outstanding sportsmanship on the fields in Phoenix; and
WHEREAS, the young men who play on the Under-16 Javanon team have distinguished themselves and the Commonwealth of Kentucky by the skill and the fine sportsmanship that they exhibited at the national competition;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate hereby congratulates the 1997 United States Youth Soccer National Champions in the Under-16 Division, and assures them that it shares their excitement and pride. The Senate wishes to the members of this outstanding team and to Coach Tim Chastonay and his staff success in all future endeavors.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the 1997 United States Youth Soccer National Champions in the Under-16 Division.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to Coach Tim Chastonay, 1449 Goddard Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky 40204 for distribution to Brad Bironas, Brad Brewer, Billy Butler, Nick McDevitt, Chris Moore, Loren Reinhardt, Sumed Ibrahim, Siba Muhammed, Ntando Tsambo, Billy Minor, Randy Strobo, David Cicero, Cameron Payne, Kyle Wuchterl, Foster Collis, Bridge Cox, and Marty Tappel.
