University of York Fencing Open

We invite you to take part in the first University of York Fencing Open. We are running a two weapon (E & F) open on the 9th Oct at the University of York Sports Centre, Heslington. There will be one or two rounds of poules, depending on number of entrants, followed by direct elimination. Finals and some poules will be on metallic pistes. All entrants above 13 years old are welcome but must have BFA membership. Entrants may only enter one weapon. Entryfee will be £14, but late entries (after 29th September) will be £16.

There may be a small cake stall on the day and there are vending machines selling some food and drink, and a water fountain in the changing rooms with chilled water. There are shops on campus where food can be bought, around a ten minute walk from the sports centre.

Directions

There is parking available at the university sports centre and further parking available on the university campus. If coming by car take the A64, and leave at the exit signposted A19 (and designer outlet). Follow this road to the first main set of traffic lights (there is a green-coloured house on the left) and turn right. Follow this road to the end and turn right at the mini round about (signposted for the university). Then take the university entrance on the left about a mile down the road and follow the road round to the left to get to the sports centre.

If you are travelling by train, there is a regular bus service to the university, take the number 4 bus from outside the train station to the end of the route. Then cross the road and turn left towards the roundabout. Turn right and follow the road around 0.5miles. The sports centre becomes visible after you walk past a zebra crossing. Alternatively, a taxi will cost around £7.50 which can be got from outside the train station.
