EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES IN EMPLOYMENT POLICY

MONITORING

University of Warwick Students’ Union is committed to preventing discrimination in its employment practices by stimulating genuine equality in opportunity. All aspects of recruitment practice in the Equal Opportunities Policy are monitored to ensure that they are effectively applied and you are asked to assist by providing the information requested. We want to improve our monitoring on employment practice and any suggestions you may have to make would be welcome.

All shortlisted applicants are informed in writing of the result of their application.

EMPLOYMENT CODE OF PRACTICE

The code covers job applicants and existing staff and is to help those who are discriminated against on the basis of race, marital status, social background, disablement, sexuality, religion and age and may therefore find difficulty in getting a job.

WOMEN

University of Warwick Students’ Union recognises skills obtained outside paid work and do not discriminate against women because of their sex, marital status or dependants.

SEXUALITY

University of Warwick Students’ Union will ensure that lesbians, gay men and bisexuals who are open about their sexuality will be given equal opportunity. We do not record sexual orientation of employees as we do not believe monitoring to be an appropriate way of countering this form of discrimination.

RACIAL DISCRIMINATION

University of Warwick Students’ Union opposes all discrimination on the grounds of race, ethnic or national origin. The Company is taking action to redress discrimination and thereby aims to promote good relations.

DISABLEMENT

University of Warwick Students’ Union recognises that discrimination against disabled people is personal and environmental and seeks to redress this. Where a disabled applicant has shown in their application form that they meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy they will be guaranteed an interview and given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
