The Department of Student Affairs invites applications for the above permanent position for appointment as soon as possible.
The main purpose of this position is to provide an efficient, accurate and cost-effective purchasing and cashier service for the Department of Student Affairs according to UCT’s policies and procedures.
Requirements include:
· Grade 12 (with accounting and math subjects) and a relevant 1-year financial qualification with 2 years relevant experience in a purchasing/ finance/ accounting/ bookkeeping environment OR Grade 12 (with accounting and math subjects) and 4 years relevant experience in a purchasing/ finance/ accounting/ bookkeeping environment
· Excellent numeric and cash management skills
· Computer literacy
· Excellent customer orientation, with particular attention to good communication & conflict resolution skills
· Acknowledgement of personal responsibility for outcomes
· An ability to work independently and as part of a team
· An emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail;
· An ability to prioritize work effectively and complete tasks under pressure
Experience and working knowledge of SAP R/3 would be advantageous
Key areas and responsibilities:
· Controlling cash float
· Daily reconciliations of float and imprest cheque account
· Payout of cash refunds & advances
· Receipting of all funds and balancing of daily intake of monies receipted
· Preparing deposit slips for banking daily receipts with Fidelity Guards
· Departmental purchasing in line with approved policies & procedures
· Funds & Purchase Order reporting and ensuring correct allocation of expenses to GL accounts
· Ensuring deliveries, invoices and credit memos conform to the relevant purchase order specifications
· Providing regular KPI’s to the line manager on all activities
· Providing a professional service to all customers
· Resolving daily receipting/purchasing/cashier related queries
· Ensuring safekeeping of UCT’s assets
The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is negotiable between R171 938 and R202 287.
