RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Dress everyday for PE Class, proper dress is a change of clothes from your daily attire, (t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes).
  1. You are expected to be dressed and in the gym by five minutes after the hour.
  1. Be prepared to line up in squads when the instructor arrives.
  1. All students must have a U-High PE lock and locker. The athletic area will be secured throughout the day and will only be available before and after school. Be sure to lock your locker before leaving class.
  1. Use your small locker for PE clothes and the corresponding half locker for your school clothes while in class.
  1. If you lose your lock, see your instructor immediately.
  1. Do not leave class early. Wait for dismissal by your instructor. Dismissal is between ten and five minutes till the hour.
  1. Do not come to the weight-room during your free hour unless approved by an instructor.
  1. NO DRESS POLICY: The first two times the student is not dressed for PE the teacher will handle the problem. The student is still required to come to class, and it is at the teacher’s discretion on whether they remain in class. On the third time the student does not dress, he/she will be sent to the office and will remain out of class that hour. On the fourth time, the student will be sent to the office and will be issued a detention. On the fifth time, the student will be sent to the office and will be suspended from class. Each no dress will adversely affect the students’ participation and attitude portion of their grade.
  1. Students that leave class without permission from the instructor will be counted as absent.
  1. Do not walk across gym floor; use side doors from hallways to enter gym.
  1. NO PHONES, FOOD, POP, OR GUM ALLOWED IN THE GYM!
  1. Medicals: Any student missing time from class due to a medical will fall

under the following guidelines:

  1. Must have a Dr. note
  2. Note from parent will be accepted for one day
  3. First 4 days out student shall sit in class with no point deduction
  4. On the 5th day and each subsequent 5 days of absence, the student will be required to write a 5 page-double spaced paper on a topic selected by the instructor.
  1. Daily Grading Scale – 10pts.

5pt Participation (Maximum effort is expected to achieve maximum points)

3ptAttitude (Sportsmanship, respect, teamwork not using inappropriate language)

2ptBeing on time (If you are tardy, you must have a note or pass – report to the instructor and do not disrupt class)

0ptNO DRESS

ONCE 5 EXCUSED ABSENCES HAVE ACCUMULATED, ONE 5-PAGE PAPER DOUBLE SPACED SHALL BE SUBMITTED. ALL UNEXCUSED ABSENCES WILL RECEIVE 0 PTS FOR THAT DAY AND THEY CANNOT BE MADE UP. ALL SCHOOL RELATED ACTIVITIES ARE NON-DEDUCTING EXCUSED ABSENCES.

  1. Activities students: Students will be assessed after each unit on the improvement of skills. Unit skills testing rubric – 5pts.

5ptStudent demonstrates a significant amount of improvement and is able to perform skills in the activity with competence in individual skills and game play.

4ptStudent demonstrates enough improvement to be able to perform skills in the activity with confidence in individual skills and game play.

3ptStudent demonstrates enough improvement to be able to perform skills in the activity with confidence in individual skills.

2ptStudent demonstrates some improvement, but not at a consistent level to perform skills effectively.

1ptStudent demonstrates little to no improvement in skills in the activity.

0ptStudent demonstrates no effort to improve skills in the activity.

  1. Any student who does not successfully complete Fitness Testing SHALL NOTreceive a grade higher than a “B”.
