Position Description

Onefull-time (40 hours/week) one-year Postdoctoral Fellow position is available for the 2016-2017academic year. The position isbased at the main FIU campus where the Fellow willprovide individual, group, and couples therapy and crisis intervention services to enrolled FIU students. CAPS offers time-limited, focused psychotherapy with individualized treatment plans reflecting cultural and developmental client needs. The Fellow presents outreach workshops and offers consultation to various university departments, including Residence Life. The Fellow also participates in a specialty track Psychological Assessment training experience including provision of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and psychoeducational evaluations screenings and integrated psychological assessments for University students.

The training philosophy emphasizes treatment within a matrix of cultural differences. The professional staff is comprised of 10 full-time licensed psychologists from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds who maintain a wide spectrum of theoretical and psychotherapeutic approaches as well as full and part time staff from a variety of mental health fields. Counseling and Psychological Services is a member of the Association of Psychology Post-Doctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) and is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS). All professional activities and services are governed by Florida State Statutes and adhere to the American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct.

Minimum Qualifications
The Post-Doctoral Fellow must have completed a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program.

Desired Qualifications
Experience working with multicultural populations, psychological assessment experience, and experience working with eating disorders.

Citizens of Miami are very diverse in culture and background. Miami is situated in south Florida in a large metropolitan area with access to major tourist activities and beautiful beaches. It is close in proximity to other major population centers such as Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando, and the Florida Keys are a short drive away.

Criteria for Selection and Selection Process The Post-Doctoral Fellow must have completed a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program.
