3.   UST Pro Installation & Activation

3.1. UST Pro Dongle Drivers Installation

UST protection scheme is based on dongle. Dongle is a small device connected to the USB port of your computer. It contains needed security information to run UST and it must be kept connected to the USB port of your computer during all time UST is running.

3.1.1.   Where to get drivers?

All updated dongle drivers are at these links:

Win9x/ME: http://www.ust-online.com/prof/Driver98Me.exe

Win2k/XP: http://www.ust-online.com/prof/Driver2kXP.exe

You may download them from here if they were absent on CD came with UST. You need to be registered UST customer to download these drivers, so please ask you reseller for login and password for UST support area, if you have no them.

3.1.2.   At first:

-  Download the driver according to the OS you are running and save it anywhere to your hard disk

-  Do not plug dongle in! If you did so, unplug the dongle and reboot

3.1.3.   Windows 9x/ME instructions:

-  Run Driver98Me.exe you just downloaded or run it from CD came with UST.

-  Press Next buttons in installer until you reach Finish screen.

-  During the installation some UST components will ask for reboot. Don't reboot until the installation will finish!

-  At the end of the installation press Finish in the installer window. Reboot your computer. Windows will find some hardware. It will ask you for some files location. Point it to c:\program files\UST Pro\Dongle Drivers for Win9x. If you changed default path of UST Pro drivers installation, then use path you entered.

-  After Windows will finish new devices installation you may plug dongle in. Windows will find some more devices and ask for path again. Point it to the same path again.

-  If all ok - you may now run UST (see below UST Activation).

After successful dongle drivers installation you should have three devices listed in My Computer Properties->Devices like shown on screenshot (it is taken from Windows XP, but all the devices are the same on both OSes.

If there are fewer devices - something went wrong. If so:

-  Delete all devices corresponding to the dongle (they are shown with arrows on the above image) by right-clicking them and selecting Delete.

-  Uninstall UST Dongle Drivers from Control Panel->Add/Remove Software.

-  Reboot your PC

-  Repeat the above steps again.

-  If you still get something wrong again and can't run UST - see 3.1.5. (If nothing helps...)

3.1.4.   Windows 2k/XP instructions:

WARNING! You have NT Administrator rights to install dongle drivers on Windows 2000 or XP!

-  Run Driver2kXP.exe you just downloaded or run it from CD came with UST.

-  Press Next buttons in installer.

-  At the end of the installation press Finish in the installer window. Windows will find some hardware. It will ask you for some files location. Point it to c:\program files\UST Pro\Dongle Drivers for Win2k-XP if you changed default path of UST Pro drivers installation, then use path you entered

-  After Windows will finish all new devices installation you may plug dongle in. Windows will find some more devices and ask for path again. Point it to the same path again.

-  If all ok - you may now run UST (see below UST Activation)

After successful dongle drivers installation you should have three devices listed in My Computer Properties->Devices like shown on the screenshot (it is taken from Windows XP, but all the devices are the same on both OSes.

-  Repeat the above steps again to install the drivers

-  If you still get something wrong again and can't run UST – see 3.1.5. (If nothing helps)

3.1.5.   If nothing helps...

If you tried all ways and nothing helps do the following:

-  Send file c:\program files\UST Pro\install.log to us (). It contains installation log and will probably help us to find out the reason.

-  If you got some error message take a screen shot of it and send this graphic to us (). You may do by making this window active and then press Alt-PrtScr (Print Screen Button). Then you may paste it to some graphics editor like Windows Paint or Adobe Photoshop, save there and send to us. If you can't make screenshot, then please write us e-mail with exact contents of error message including error message window title and button texts.

-  Provide us exact and full information on your problem.

3.1.6.   Manual driver installation

If you are qualified enough, you might want to install UST Dongle Drivers manually. For this operation refer to page http://www.reflexreaders.com/Support/Downloads/downloads.html Remember, that for installing drivers on Win9x you need to install Smart Cards Base Components from SCBASE.exe and SMCLIB.exe. These files are not necessary on Win2000/XP platforms.

You may post your question in Dongle (Smartcard) subforum of http://www.vsh-gsm.com/forum. But please, provide us as much information as you can on problem you encounter to help us help you.
