POSITION OVERVIEW:The UnitedStates BankruptcyCourt forthe SouthernDistrict ofAlabama is accepting applications for the position of full-time Intake Clerk. The Court is recruiting for a well-organized, detail-oriented individual who possesses exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, and enjoys working with the public. The Intake clerk performs a variety of civil, criminal, and pro se intake duties. This position reports to theChief Deputy . This position in located in Mobile, AL.

DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES: The selectedcandidate will be responsible for making summary entries and performing data quality control in the court’s Electronic Case Filing system (ECF). Incumbent will review and examine electronically filed documents for processing, have clerical duties related to legal documents and provide quality service to our internal and external customers.

•Receives and processes incoming documents according to the appropriate local and/or federal procedural rules, court practices and/ or court requirements.

•Make summary entries of documents and proceedings on the docket in ECF database, ensuring that all automated entries are appropriately linked for proper case management.

•Assist in case processing by ensuring that automated entries are accurate for proper case management.

•Scans and files documents when appropriate.

•Acts as a receptionist and provides various customer services support to include providing information, making copies and answering inquires on case status and other related matters to a wide variety of people within and outside of the Court.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:All candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. (or other recognized certificate, or a like number of years of clerical experience i.e. one year of clerical experience equals to one year of high school).

Two years of clericalexperience ispreferred but not required.to include progressively responsible clerical experience requiring the application of clerical procedures involving the use of keyboard skills. In addition, the candidate should have the ability to take direction and process documents and payments according to the rules and guidelines of court.

Selected candidates may be placed at a higher classification level depending on qualifications and experience.

A successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff to determine needs and maintain complete and accurate records and files.

The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is critical.
