The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Registrar of the UNRWA Dispute Tribunal.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

·  Assist the Registrar with receipt and registration of appeals to the UNRWA Dispute Tribunal and filing and storage of all documents related to each case file;

·  Assist the Registrar to manage and administer the human, financial and other resources allocated to the Registry and to advise the Judge on administrative, personnel and logistical matters related to the Registry’s operational activities, including case management;

·  Attend deliberations and hearings of the UNRWA Dispute Tribunal as required;

·  Assist with establishing and maintaining an electronic case management system for the UNRWA Dispute Tribunal;

·  Assist with the publication and dissemination of the decisions, rulings and judgements of the UNRWA Dispute Tribunal;

·  Assist with establishing and maintaining the UNRWA Dispute Tribunal’s case law and jurisprudence database;

·  Assist in the preparation of periodic reports on the work of the UNRWA Dispute Tribunal;

·  Assist in maintaining custody of the seals, stamps and archives of the UNRWA Dispute Tribunal;

·  Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Professional Knowledge and Experience

·  A university degree in business administration, law or related field.

·  Four years experience as an administrative officer or practicing paralegal in a public or business organisation or institution.

·  Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Arabic.

·  Good communication, negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically;

·  Ability to work under pressure and within a team;

·  Flexible, able to assess and analyse situations quickly, objectively and prudently;

·  Ability to establish priorities and to plan work assignments.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience in providing administrative support to lawyers, judges or senior government or UN officials.

Equivalency

When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Director of Human Resources may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience. NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.

Conditions of Service

Fixed-term appointment for 3 years including 1 year of probation. Monthly basic salary starting at JD 699.50. Other benefits include Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary paid by the Agency), medical insurance and 30 days of annual leave. Dependency benefits are subject to eligibility.
