Who are we?

UNANZ is a non-government organisation and an approved charity made up of volunteers, aimed at promoting understanding of, and engagement with, the UN. We welcome participation from anyone who would like to contribute towards our aims, whatever your interests and skills may be.

We have branches across New Zealand and are a member of The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) which provides links with other United Nations Associations throughout the world and with the United Nations itself.

What do we do?

UNANZ helps educate people: about the activities of the United Nations and its agencies, New Zealand's involvement, and how to get involved.

We support the ideals embodied in the UN Charter and the crucial role of the U.N. at the centre of multilateral cooperation to promote peace and security, development and human rights for all.
We are involved in a number of activities including:

forums and advocacy on issues relating to the UN and UN Renewal,

annual speech awards for high school students, this years theme is UN: Human Rights in a Sustainable World

together with or through our youth association UNYANZ, run Model United Nations events

working with NGO’s and others to access the UN.

developing a website to offer a window to the world and theUnited Nations for your own interest or research and provide links to United Nations System websites and related sites.

working in coalitions ie Council for International Development Point Seven ODA Campaign, the Aotearoa/NZ Make Poverty History and Cluster Munitions coalitions & NZ Human Rights Film Festival.
