ST. CATHERINE OF
SIENA SCHOOL
We are back in session and have hit the ground running under the new leadership of our principal, Mrs. Bergeron. After a rejuvenating summer, our classrooms are once again filled with eager, smiling faces from teachers and students alike. Included with the students core class schedules, are the Specials: Spanish, Visual Art, Music, Physical Education, Library and Technology. The buzzing of activity continues during after school hours. The Purple Knights Cross Country Team, led by Mrs. Anzivino, met for the beginning of their season. Students in grades 4-6 are eligible to participate. They practice weekly and compete in Meets throughout Southern NH with fellow Elementary/Middle School Students. We welcome our new Music teacher, Mr. Gaydos who has graciously accepted the offer to build a drama program with meetings, rehearsals and preparations to be scheduled after school on Wednesdays. We are also fortunate to have Mr. Jenkins leading our Band members. We will continue to keep you informed of any upcoming concert news and scheduled events. Behind the scenes, there is much to do. Mrs. Dudley, Director of Fundraising, moves full steam ahead with two events fast-approaching: the Golf Tournament and Magazine Drive. Our 4th Annual Golf Tournament takes place on Friday, September 26 at Green Meadow Golf Course in Hudson, NH. A PRAYER FOR CATECHISTS
Loving God, Creator of all things,
you call these men and women to be in relationship with you and others.
Thank you for calling them to be a catechist and for the opportunity to share with others what you have given to them.
May all those with whom they share the gift of faith discover how you are present in all things.
May those they teach come to know you, the one true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
May the grace of the Holy Spirit guide their heart and lips, so that they may remain constant in loving and praising you.
May they be a witness to the Gospel and a minister of your truth. May all their words and actions reflect your love. Amen.
On this Catechetical Sunday, I would like to thank all of the men and woman who give of their time and talent to teach our young people. Blessings to each of you!
~ Leslie
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
MINIMAL TIMECOMMITMENT
Pre-CCD is an enjoyable, hands-on learning environment offered during the 9 a.m. Mass weekly, from September through May with the exception of Christmas and Easter. It is a preschool group of 4-5 year old children and follows the Liturgical year. It is an excellent place to get your child “ready” for CCD which begins in 1st grade. We are in DESPARATE need of volunteer helpers for this classroom. If you can spare one week until Christmas, or if you have one Sunday a month to give, we can work with you. There is a constant “lead” teacher in the classroom, and you would only be asked to help with the daily activities. We are looking for YOU whether you are a parent, grandparent, young adult with energy to serve, new to the program or a veteran. Any positive, upbeat personality will fit with our preschool group. Please contact Amanda Blanc at to discuss.
LITURGY OF THE WORD
For all children in Grade 1 through 5 we offer the Liturgy of the Word. During construction, children will be dismissed to the Sacristy to hear and reflect on the word of God at their level. If you attend the 9 a.m. Mass and could help with this program, contact the Religious Ed Office.
BABYSITTING
This is being offered for 1-3 year olds during the 9 a.m. Mass. We are in need of babysitters. Please contact the Religious Ed Office if you can help.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR
CHILDREN (RCIC)
This is a program designed to provide the sacraments of Initiation, Baptism and Eucharist, for those children age 9 or older who have not previously received them. See the website for more information.
REGISTRATION FOR CONFIRMATION
Those who have not yet registered for Confirmation are invited to attend the spring semester which runs January through April. A student/parent meeting is required before entering the program. Please check our website under Faith Formation for details. Any students who attend Catholic High School are asked to attend their parish program for Confirmation preparation.
CHILDRENS HOLY HOUR AT STE. MARIE
All families are invited to attend a special Eucharistic Adoration Hour to pray for Peace in our world. Join us on Friday, October 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Ste. Marie Church. The theme for this year’s Holy Hour is “Immaculate Heart of Mary ~ Our Refuge.”
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Meals on Wheels has an immediate need for volunteer drivers in Manchester to deliver meals to homebound seniors and disabled adults. Just a few hours of your time, given on the weekday of your choice, can help seniors and disabled adults remain healthy and live independently at home. Join us and make a difference. Call Elida at 424-9967 for more information or visit: www.mealsonwheelsnh.org
