Poachers opt for change after record reverse

Surprise strugglers Boston Town’s season took a turn for the worse on 29th October when the Poachers suffered their heaviest ever defeat, losing 12-0 at neighbours Spalding. Town’s previous record defeat was a 12-1 drubbing at Emley in the Northern Counties East League in May 1985.

The club’s poor start to the season cost managerial pair Ian Dunn and Matt Hocking their jobs as they parted company with Town by mutual consent on 31st October. The duo joined Boston from Pinchbeck in May 2012, Dunn having managed Pinchbeck to the Peterborough League title.

Taking over from next week is Nathan Collins who played for Town for seven years until 2008. He has run the successful Tilted Barrel Sunday side in Grimsby and has more recently been involved with the Grimsby Town youth set up as assistant manager. He will be assisted by Andy Liddell, former manager of Cleethorpes. Player/director Lori Borbely will take charge of tomorrow’s trip to Wellingborough..

Suspensions have left Boston depleted in recent weeks with Nick Jackson, Jason Field, Josh Ford and Ollie Pinner all serving bans, a fate awaiting Liam Bull after his dismissal at the Halley Stewart Field.

Recent arrivals at Tattershall Road are Holbeach wide man Liam Ogden, returning full back or winger Shane Clancy and RAF defender Chris West.

Hayes steps uo at Huntingdon

Seb Hayes has been handed the managerial at reins at Huntingdon after Ricky Marheineke resigned in mid-October to take the assistant manager post at Conference North Histon.

Marheineke had taken charge at Jubilee Park in February 2011 with the club struggling in the lower reaches of Division One. He led them to the Division One championship the following season and fourth place in their first Premier campaign last time out, plus a first Huntingdonshire Senior Cup final appearance.

New boss Hayes joined Town from Peterborough Northern Star as second in command in the summer. He has a wide breadth of experience having managed Thrapston in Division One, Oundle and Crowland in the Peterborough League, the Blackstones second string and Kettering youth side, and coached at Whitworth

Paul Swannell continues in the Jubilee Park management team while Ricky Dear takes a player-coach role.

The new manager’s first signings are former Cambridge City and Histon defender Miles Smith and Peterborough Northern Star defender or midfielder Billy Oliver.

Tulips concede at last

Spalding finally conceded their second goal of the season on 26th October when Yaxley’s Andy Furnell scored a stoppage time goal in his side’s 2-1 defeat at the Halley Stewart Field.

Sileby’s Dan Pritchard had scored against Spalding twenty minutes into the season’s opening match but Tulips keeper Mick Duggan then kept clean sheets in his side’s next nine Premier Division matches making 972 minutes in total between goals!

The run without conceding is believed to be a league record.

Three days after the run ended it was the Spalding strikers who grabbed the headlines as the Tulips defeated Lincolnshire neighbours Boston Town 12-0 to extend their winning start to the league campaign to a dozen games – a Tulips biggest win since they beat Boston United 14-0 in an FA Cup tie in September 1964!

Recent recruit Mark Jones scored four times against the Poachers while there were also hat tricks for Andy Tidswell and substitute Sam Mullarkey.

New faces have been added to the Spalding squad by manager Pat Rayment with Jonny Allen ruled out with a long term knee injury, Lee Beeson out with a groin problem and Jamie Stevens about to start a three match suspension after being sent off in the derby win over his former club Holbeach.

Coming in are former Grimsby Town man Peter Bore, equally at home in defence or attack, on dual registration from Conference North Boston United, one time Cogenhoe central defender Alex Lowery from Trent University and Wisbech goalkeeper Tom Roberts who provides back up for Michael Duggan.

Cogenhoe boss takes sabbatical

After guiding his side to a top three place in the Premier Division, Cogenhoe manager Andy Marks is embarking on a three month break from management while taking a career break in Australia. He will return from ‘down under’ in February.

In the meantime summer coaching arrival Paul Lamb will take charge of the senior side at Compton Park with former assistant Mick Donnelly returning to the backroom staff.

A recent addition to the Cooks playing strength is Scottish youth cap Lewis Hallford. The wide man made a handful of Scottish League appearances for Elgin City last season. Another wide man making a big impact in Cooks colours is former Northampton Town trainee Elliott Lamb-Johnson who has joined from Corby. He will be missing through suspension shortly after being dismissed in Cogenhoe’s defeat by Histon in the FA Youth Cup.

Doughboys add wide men

Wellingborough have added a couple of new faces to a squad which has put together a good run of results which have lifted them into the top five of the Premier Division.

Two new signings have added to the wide options in the squad. Michael Cirelli has arrived from Harborough while Jack Wisniewski has joined the Doughboys from tenants AFC Rushden & Diamonds where he had found senior opportunities limited.

Former Raunds, Cogenhoe and Long Buckby manager Adam Sandy has been involved in the club’s management in recent weeks, and took charge while boss Craig Adams was away over the half term holiday.

On and off field changes for Cuckoos

Yaxley have undergone recent changes in both their management team and playing staff.

Chris Lenton has stepped down as assistant manager due to work commitments, with senior player Andy Coleman taking over the role, he has previously been assistant boss at Ryman League Soham, and is likely to wind down his playing career to concentrate on his new role.

Manager Brett Whaley has moved to strengthen his playing staff bringing in three new players. Left sided midfielder Ollie Gale has switched from Wisbech, while joining from Holbeach is front runner Liam Tunstall who had an impressive scoring record with previous club Sleaford. Most recent signing is experienced defender Stuart Wall who has arrived on dual registration from Kings Lynn. He has been on the books of Coventry and Peterborough and had a spell with Kettering earlier in the season.

Stewart joins Buckby management team

Ashley Stewart, sidelined by injury for the rest of the season, has become part of Phil Mason’s management team at Station Road. He takes the role following the departures of Mark Fenemore and Aidy Fuller, the former Bedworth manager opting to take up a coaching position at Rugby after just a couple of weeks with Buckby.

The Bucks have had some goalkeeper problems in recent weeks since James Broadbent went off to university after impressing in the early weeks of the season. Most recent signing Dan Frayne has been forced on to the sidelines following a change of job, so Jak Riley has returned between the sticks after a spell on the injured list.

Three newcomers for Desborough

Desborough manager Steve Walker has continued to be busy in the transfer market in recent weeks, introducing three new faces to the Ar Tarn squad.

Defender Leo Adams has arrived at the S6 Stadium after a brief spell with Raunds, midfielder Alan Campbell has arrived having most recently played for Stewarts & Lloyds while adding to the striking options is Shaun Goodall who also switches from the Foundrymen.

New Harborough management embark on rebuild

New Harborough managerial pair Gordon Kyle and Rob Dunion have wasted little time in revamping the Bowdens Park playing squad. Bobby White, who captained Dunion’s promotion winning Corby Town squad is an experienced addition as is Rob Maddox, a versatile player who helped Stamford win promotion to step 3 last term.

Former Kettering forward Solomon Akinshade, Cogenhoe midfielder Tom Redding and Richard Conway, returning from Hinckley United, are other new recruits for the Bees, while midfielder Peter McDonald has been recruited from the Tresham Academy.

Mason takes S&L reserve reins

Stewarts & Lloyds have finalised their new managerial staff with Sean Mason filling the reserve manager vacancy at Occupation Road. Mason was reserve boss at Weldon for a number of years and has also been on the backroom staff at Desborough.

The new second string boss has overseen an upturn in fortunes with all four October league games won, but the Northants Junior Cup visit to Burton United was abandoned after ten minutes due to a player injury

Rangers boss set for selection headaches

Deeping continue to set the pace in the Premier Division and are now unbeaten in thirteen league outings since their opening day defeat by AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

Manager Tuncay Korkmaz’s squad has been tested to the limit in the opening couple of months with a number of key men absent through injuries, but the squad is now close to full strength with long term absentees Ciaran Holt and Lewis Stone back in action and Ryan Oliver, Kev Gilbert and Nicki Young also back in contention after shorter absences.

The only absentee at present is Harry Deane with an ankle injury suffered in pre season.

Rangers have continued to plunder goals galore in recent weeks with an 8-1 win at Desborough, 7-0 defeat of Peterborough Sports in the Knockout Cup and six goal hauls against Long Buckby and AFC Kempston.

Keeper latest addition to Newport injury list

Goalkeeper Martin McIntyre has become the latest addition to Newport Pagnell’s injury list. The custodian collided with the post in making a save at Yaxley on 30th October and needed 34 stitches in hospital.

Latest additions to the Swans squad are former Buckingham midfielder Ieuan Riley and full back Lewis Smith from Willen.

Another recent arrival, striker Joel McCormick, was in fine form on 26th October, scoring twice as the Swans halted a five match losing run with a 4-1 win over champions Holbeach at Willen Road.

McCormick had joined the Swans from Australian club Shepparton United, and has now been reunited in the Swans attack with his former Shepparton team mate Ben Clarke.

The absences of some regulars has seen some youngsters take their chance with Luca Seminerio and Daniel Spicer-Irving both winning places in the senior squad.

Two out four in for Kempston

AFC Kempston have lost the services of one of their longest serving players with midfielder Sam Macrae leaving Hillgrounds to team up with a number of former team mates at Southern Premier side Bedford Town. Also leaving the Walnut Boys is full back Cameron Mould who has opted to call time on his football career to concentrate on his university studies.

Joining the Kempston squad is young winger Patrick Adu who was previously with Hayes and Yeading, while arriving from Hitchin are goalkeeper David Hulmer and midfielder Lucas Kirkpatrick. Completing the new faces is former New Bradwell left back Danny Winfield.

Holbeach halt losing run

After a bright start to the season Holbeach’s fortunes dipped in spectacular style as a run of nine defeats sent them sliding down the table while also making exits from the FA Vase and Knockout Cup competitions.

The Tigers ended their poor run in spectacular fashion, beating manager Glen Maddison’s former club Sleaford 5-0 at Carters Park. Joe Braithwaite, an Adam Weston own goal, two goal Tom Waumsley and Andy Law shared the goals.

Two newcomers for Sileby

Sileby’s young side have slipped back into the lower reaches in recent weeks, suffering three successive defeats having previously put together a five match unbeaten run.

Recent Fernie Fields arrivals are left sided youngster Josh Olowoyo from Northampton Spencer and former Raunds reserve team boss Jamie Chatfield.

One new man, one returnee for Wisbech

Wisbech have recruited one new face and welcomed back a familiar one in recent weeks.

Wide man Callum Stocks has been quick to make an impact at the Ellgood’s Stadium after joining the Fenmen from Premier Division rivals Boston Town. Also adding to the Wisbech player strength is front man James Tricks. After signing on dual registration from Kettering at the start of the campaign he returned to the Poppies, but has now been brought back by newly appointment managerial duo Paul Cousins and Scott Johnson.

Leaving the Ellgoods Stadium is 16 year old striker Jack Friend who has been taken on at the Peterborough United Academy following a successful trial period.

Wisbech have shown patchy form of late but recorded their best win of the season on 29th October, winning 4-0 at Peterborough Northern Star to complete a first double since returning to the UCL.

Rawdon in Sleaford return

Will Rawdon, who enjoyed a successful spell with Sleaford on ‘work experience’ last season, has rejoined the Eslaforde Park club after spending the summer playing professionally in Sweden.

Former Lincoln City teenager Rawdon has been playing for IFK Holmsund and will return to Sweden in March of next year,

Leaving Eslaforde Park is wide man Josh Raby who has signed for Northern Premier League club Eastwood Town.

Murphy back with Star

Midfield man Sam Murphy has made a speedy return to Peterborough Northern Star just a couple of weeks after leaving Chestnut Avenue to rejoin former club Wisbech.

Veteran goalkeeper Nick Conroy, sidelined in pre season by an arm injury, recently returned to the Star goalline after Lee Crockett suffered injuries in a car accident.

Oadby strengthen up

Division One tabletoppers Oadby continue to recruit from a position of strength.
