Introduction

This essay is based on the previous document associated with this essay of a Risk Analysis form which is associated to a workplace hazard. The workplace hazard that has been identified is the potential threat of the actions of guests that enter into the workplace and the potential criminal backgrounds that they may have. I will use a criminal courthouse as an example of a workplace to illustrate the point I am raising of a workplace hazard.

Criminal Courthouse Hazards

When you work in a criminal courthouse you are surrounded with the good and the bad. On one hand there are the judges, magistrates, district attorneys, stenographers, court clerks and administrative staff of a courthouse, as well as the cleaning and maintenance staff who are mentioned last here but who are not least the bad people so-to-speak. All of these personnel of a criminal courthouse have received clear criminal record checks confirming with either the state or county and/or even federal government that they do not have a criminal record.

The problem and the hazard of working in a courthouse is that there are accused persons milling around on at times even a six day a seven day a week basis and these accused persons, well, some of them can be highly dangerous persons who have committed even murders, crimes, rapes, child molestations, assaults, robbery, arson, drug trafficking, human trafficking and fraud to name just a few of the bad things that some of these accused person do.

Let us say that you are a district attorney that also has a personalized license plate. This means that when you are in the public arena and unarmed because you do not care to have a license to carry a gun because personally you are against them, you are open to the potential of attack at any given moment. The attack could range anywhere from an assault, to even being murdered because one, two, three, potentially more of these accused persons who were released out on bond honestly do want to kill you so that perhaps they can walk free of the criminal case that they are facing. The accused people are acting irrationally because even if the district attorney on the criminal case were to be killed, there are tons of district attorneys who could take the place of him or her. The accused person would still be prosecuted if they are found guilty by the judge.

In accordance to a discussion about the life and safety of judges, the same is true of district attorneys. Another judge would simply be assigned to the murder trial as an example and if any connection was made with the life impairment and/or death of anyone who has worked in a criminal court because these people have proven themselves to be good citizens – their punishment would be even greater and most definitely the maximum sentencing would be rendered towards the accused person if they were to be found guilty.
