Writing prompt: How did sectional rivalries affect North Carolina’s political development?

A strong response will:

  • Discuss the political situation that led westerners to resent easterners, such as extortion by public officials and the poll tax, and
  • Analyze the Regulator movement, the events leading to the Battle of Alamance, and the results of the battle.
