GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

To maintain accurate school facilities plant information. Update building drawings and produce floor plans as required. Upgrade and maintain hardware and software as necessary to provide the most reliable source of information. Provide assistance for installation and maintenance of communications and data equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1.Maintains electronic drawings of schools and facilities.

2.Updates drawings as necessary to obtain accurate information.

3.Takes necessary steps to coordinate with the Facilities Department or engineers to obtain required up-to-date drawings.

4.Maintains wireless communications equipment.

5.Maintains fuel tank monitoring and cathodic systems.

6.Assists HVAC and electronics technicians with the programming and maintenance of lap top computers.

7.Maintains, programs and re-orders computers and peripheral equipment for personnel working in the maintenance department.

8.Assists HVAC technicians, the environmental specialist and wastewater personnel with technology that may need to be researched, programmed, repaired or installed.

9.Provides training on new equipment.

10.Provides assistance, when necessary, to maintenance office staff.

11.Performs other tasks as directed by the Assistant Director of Maintenance.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

1.Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, software and networking.

2.Ability to use CAD, CAD associated word processing, spreadsheet, publishing, data base and networking software.

3.Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and apply those concepts to data processing and electronic information operations.

4.Ability to gather and assimilate information required to operate efficiently.

5.Ability to work unsupervised and produce results based upon general information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORMESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Physical Requirement: Physical demands are Light Work.

Interpersonal Communication: Ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions to subordinates. Includes receiving instructions, assignments and/or directions from superiors.

Language Ability: Ability to read a variety of work orders, service records, building and machinery diagrams, technical books, etc. Requires the ability to prepare work orders, time cards, and maintenance reports, using prescribed format.

Intelligence: Ability to apply principles or rational systems as applied to building maintenance to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled form.

Verbal Aptitude: Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to use and interpret terminology and language associated with building maintenance.

Numerical Aptitude: Ability to utilize mathematical formulas, to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, and to determine percentages and decimals.

Motor Coordination: Ability to operate motor vehicles.

Interpersonal Temperament: Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.

Physical Communication: Ability to talk and hear (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Must be able to communicate via a telephone.
