GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT 2015

The following are the regulations for the 2015 Union County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Girls Basketball Tournament.

  1. The tournament will be open to all member schools. It will be the responsibility of each school to adjust their schedule to conform to the regulations of the N.J.S.I.A.A. with respect to the number of games a school may play.
  1. All teams entered will be seeded on the basis of their season record and caliber of competition. The preliminary round(s) schedule will be determined by the number of schools/teams entering the tournament. The preliminary games MUST BE PLAYED by Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 … NOTE—Preliminary-Round Games will be played at the HIGHER seed on a mutually agreed upon date. (ADs MUST notify assignor Joe Caccavaleand Joe Skrec of RC with date/time of prelim game).
  2. The higher seeded TEAM in each round will be considered the home team. The home team will wear light colored jerseys and be designated as the home team on the scoreboard. The visitors will be allowed the privileges as per the rule book.
  3. Seeding for the J.V. Tournament will be made at the same meeting as the seeding for the Varsity Tournament. The JV final will precede the Varsity final. Remaining JV dates will be distributed at the seeding meeting. NOTE—Please make a copy of the game-by-game report for your JV team/results.

  1. The UCT Varsity GIRLS Schedule is as follows:

TUESDAY, FEB. 10—UCT Basketball seeding meeting
FRIDAY, FEB. 13 OR SATURDAY, FEB. 14—Preliminary Round completion date (played at higher-seeded team).
TUESDAY, FEB. 17—First Round (8 games, at higher seeds)
FRIDAY, FEB. 20—Girls’ quarterfinals (neutral sites, 6 / 7:30)
TUESDAY, FEB. 24—Girls’ semifinals (site is TBA, 6 / 7:30)
FRIDAY., FEB. 27—Girls’ finals at Kean University (6 / 7:30)

  1. A player not registered on the varsity tournament roster may not appear in uniform at the tournament. A player’s name must NOTappear on both varsity and junior varsity rosters … A player NOT on a team’s roster SHOULD NOT be in uniform on the bench.
  1. The preliminary games MUST be completed by Saturday, Feb. 14.
  2. The Basketball Tournament Seeding Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. onTuesday, Feb. 10, 2015 at Bistro 1051 in Clark (Raritan Road). In lieu of a general meeting, tournament brackets will be available on the U.C.I.A.C. web site at on Tuesday evening, February 10, 2015.
  1. Trophies will be awarded to winning and runner-up teams. Fifteen (15) medals will be presented to coaches and members of the winning team.
  1. The committee reserves the right to exercise its own judgment in scheduling or rescheduling any games when conditions or circumstances require such action.
  1. The N.J.S.I.A.A.’s rules and regulations governing conduct and control of coaches, players and spectators will be rigidly enforced. Noise makers, air horns, signs or posters, confetti, streamers and music boxes will not be allowed in the gymnasium.
  1. Admission quarter-final round games & semis will be set by the Executive Director. IMPORTANT NOTE—For preliminary & first-round games, home team/schools keep any/all proceeds from the gate and handle all expenses.
  1. In lieu of player tickets, a “check-off” form is being sent to each school. Do not send this form to the director- retain it for admission at the game site. The form is to be presented at the pass gate when arriving at the game site. Only those individuals whose names appear on the check-off form will be admitted to the game site. Therefore, the coaches and team members should arrive together. Cheerleaders in uniform will be admitted for each game in which there school participates. Winning coaches should pick up their check-off form from the site manager for the next round.
  1. Superintendents and Principals will be admitted with proper identification.
  1. The U.C.I.A.C. shall pay officials $75.00 for preliminary, first-round and quarter-final round games, and $80.00 for semi-final and final games. J.V. officials shall be paid $60.00 by the U.C.I.A.C. for quarter-final and semi-final games. Final games shall be $65.00.
