Uniform Policy

Cumberland Academy is a school of choice that requires students to wear uniforms. The uniqueness of the student does not rest in the apparel they wear, but in the inner qualities and gifts of the student. All students are required to attend each school day in full uniform. Uniforms are to be worn from the first day of school through the last and children must arrive in clean, neat attire each day. Clothing must fit appropriately. Parents and guardians are responsible for the student being in appropriate uniform daily. This will allow our staff and students to concentrate on teaching and learning. Uniforms may be purchased at the vendor of your choice (Target, Wal-Mart, Academy, JC Penny, etc). It is required that all jackets, sweaters, coats, lunch boxes, backpacks, and other personal items be marked with the child’s first and last name to reduce the probability of these items being lost. Items placed in the Lost & Found will be donated regularly.

If your child comes to school without the proper uniform attire, he/she will not be able to attend class. Any student violating the uniform policy will be sent to the office and a parent will be contacted to remedy the violation. Violation of the uniform policy will be recorded and after three (3) violations within a six (6) week period, the student will lose recess privileges for three (3) days. Each subsequent violation will result in additional privileges lost. Excessive uniform infractions will not be allowed.
