Oswego East Marching Band
Uniform Check-out Agreement and Cleaning/Hemming Instructions
Your student has checked out a band uniform (pants and jacket), a set of gauntlets (wristlets), a shako (hat or a beret if they are a sousaphone player), rain gear, shoe bag, and a garment bag*.
*Color Guard members check out a shoe bag and rain gear only.
These items must be cleaned and returned in good condition after our last home game. See the OE Marching Band calendar information for dates.
Marching Band Uniforms are expensive. Our program depends on you as parents and students to maintain and return all items checked out to students. If items are not returned, students and their families are responsible for the replacement costs of the items that are missing or damaged.
Today your student received their uniform package. They reviewed the pieces and checked out with an adult. Please sign and return the bottom slip agreeing to maintain (clean), hem, and return all items as requested. Please see the attached pages for hemming and cleaning instructions.
- Please check your student’s uniform after each game to see if it should be laundered.
- Never store the jacket or pants in the shoe bag.
- Never store damp, sweaty, or wet uniforms or socks in the shoe bag or zipped inside the garment bag – they will get moldy.

Parent/Guardian SignatureEASY Marching Band Uniform Care and Maintenance: 7 Easy Steps
PLEASE DO NOT DRY CLEAN
1) Remove right shoulder sequined baldric and sash that are secured by Velcro and snaps down the front of the jacket.
2) Do not launder the sequined baldric or sash.
3) Fold in the shoulder wings on top of the jacket.
4) Use Shout or other color safe pre-treat on extra dirty spots and scrub.
5) Spray, scrub with soft brush, then hand wash the Gauntlets (sleeve covers). Air dry on rack.
6) Zip up jacket and place jacket and pants in washer. Wash on polyester setting on the gentle cycle. Use regular laundry soap.
7) Hang up to dry. Keep jacket shoulder wings folded in while storing uniform inside garment bag.
How to hem the OE Band Uniform
PLEASE DO NOT CUT THE PANTS OR SLEEVES OR USE SEWING MACHINE
Measure hem with Drillmasters on. Finished hem should brush the shoe laces (pants should come down and just touch the top of the foot with shoes on.)
Turn inside out. Fold the pants up inside the leg and pin to secure. Use hand stitch to sew the hem so it doesn’t show on the outside.
OR
Take to the dry cleaners for a hem. Make sure to remind them NOT to cut the pants please!
