Application for Actor's Equity Association Members

Application Deadline: Friday, January 16, 2009 (postmark or delivery)

Unified Auditions: Monday, March 30 & Tuesday, March 31 during daytime

Host Venue: 14th Street Playhouse, 173 14th Street NE in Midtown Atlanta

Please read the following guidelines, requirements and Important Things to Know

prior to submitting the attached application.

Eligibility Requirements for Members of Actor's Equity Association

To qualify for an Equity audition slot, you must be a card-carrying member of Actor’s Equity Association (AEA) at least 18 years or older as of March 30, 2009AND provide:

1. Your completed Unified Audition application for members of Actor’s Equity (application attached).

2. PLUS one current headshot with resume attached on non-photo side.

3. PLUS a photocopy of your current AEA card* which must be valid through April 2009 or beyond.

*Note: AEA members who have allowed their AEA membership to lapse do not qualify as card-carrying members of Actor’s Equity Association. If you do not meet the Equity criteria, or you are a Membership Candidate (EMC) you may apply under the Non-Equity criteria to be considered for a Non-Equity audition slot.

Resume Requirements & Format

Your resume should be professionally formatted to feature your stage experience and qualifying credits:

A.  Resume must include your name & contact information.

B.  Resume must be attached to the non-photo side of your headshot by either printing directly on

the headshot (preferred) or attaching your paper resume with glue or staples (top & bottom).

resumes MUST be trimmed to fit 8 x 10 headshot, otherwise they will NOT be accepted.

C.  Although NOT required for Equity Members applicants, per feedback from auditors, we recommend resumes include: Name of Production, Role played, Theatre Company, and Year of Production.

Review Committee

A committee of actors & artistic personnel will review equity applications. The committee reserves the right to verify any resume credits and contact Actor’s Equity Association to verify AEA status. Applying to the Unified Auditions as an Equity applicant is not a guarantee of acceptance if it is determined that you do not meet the above listed criteria.

The Audition

All Equity applicants will be assigned a time slot on Monday, March 31 in the morning or mid-day. Each Equity actor will receive 2.5 minutes total to perform their choice of EITHER2 contrasting monologues OR,1 to 2 contrasting monologues and 16 bars (No a cappella permitted, accompanist will be provided).

Important Things To Know For Equity Applicants

• Auditions will be held in the 2nd Stage of the 14th Street Playhouse, which is accessible to all performers.

• Applicants will receive confirmation by email that their application has been received.

• Equity applicants whose AEA status is inactive or undetermined must reinstate their AEA membership prior to

applying for the Unified Auditions and provide proof of AEA membership with a copy of your current AEA card.

•Equity Membership Candidates do not qualify as card-carrying members of AEA for these auditions.

•Equity applicants submitting an incomplete application will be notified and given until Sunday, February 1, 2009 to complete

their application. After February 1, 2009 all incomplete applications will automatically be rejected.

• Applications received after, or not postmarked by the deadline of January 16, 2009 will not be considered. No exceptions.

• Notice of acceptance or non-acceptance with assigned date and time will be sent to applicants early-February 2009 via U.S. Mail if accepted.

• It is your responsibility to notify ACPA in writing of any changes to your contact information.

• It is your responsibility to notify ACPA in writing if you are not able to audition and wish to either withdraw your

application (prior to deadline) or, if accepted, cancel your audition ( one week prior to March 30). Actors who do not

notify ACPA of their cancellation in advance, are marked as No Show and risk not being invited to audition in 2010.

• Equity Actors accepted to audition must mail/deliver 45 headshots with resumes by March 13, 2009. Please Note: the

final number of Headshots required may change. Details will be provided to actors if accepted.

• ACPA is not responsible for applications, notices or headshots lost/delayed by mail/delivery service.

• Individual Membership in Atlanta Coalition of Performing Arts is optional for members of AEA. However, support of

ACPA through Individual Membership is has its benefits. See membership information below.

Individual Membership in your Atlanta Coalition of Performing Arts

With your help we will continue to enhance programs and services to better serve you and your colleagues in the field. In the last year we created a new website to better highlight our individual members. AtlantaPerforms.biz is a place where ACPA Individual Members can post their headshot, resume and more! Other services we are working on this year will be the creation of workshops, symposiums/seminars for performers, designers, administrators, etc. We hope to offer our members the opportunity to learn about important resources locally and nationally that help further develop their work in the arts, whether it be professionally or avocationally.
