Research Specialist

Community – academic partnership seeks an energetic self-starter for key research position on innovative project. The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Scorecard project will receive widespread visibility within the Wisconsin academic community and will involve interacting with key mental health policymakers and advocacy groups in the state. Position Description

The Research Specialist will conduct literature searches, work with various data “owners” to review existing data elements and measures, research those measures to understand the collection processes, reliability and any limitations, and develop methods to incorporate those measures into a model scorecard.

  • Review academic / research literature
  • Prepare oral and written reports
  • Identify / review sources of data pertinent to child and adolescent mental health indicators

  • Design data collection and management methods
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating project activities.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in relevant statistics / healthcare / sociology / public health / epidemiology / sociology / public administration field
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications; statistical software experience a plus
  • Exceptional analytical skills and problem solving ability
  • Strong ability in all aspects of communicating – written (including graphic representations), oral, listening and expressing ideas
  • Knowledge of mental health provision and reporting systems in Wisconsin is preferred
  • Able to conduct thorough literature and web-based searches
  • Able to work effectively independently and harmoniously with a team
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and organization
  • Experience with data collection methods and dataset management
  • Familiar with quality improvement methods including use of indicators for benchmarking a plus
