Reminder------

To be admitted to candidacy in Computer Science, you must:

  • satisfy six core requirements, including one in each of systems, theory, and AI (four must be satisfied when your portfolio is submitted)
  • complete a synthesis project
  • achieve a B+ or better in any course used to satisfy core requirements

Because you are also working toward an MS, you must also:

  • complete 30 credits of course work, 6 of that being the master’s project;
  • have a GPA of at least 3.0

This progress report allows the Graduate Program Committee to verify that you are making steady progress toward your degree. It also reminds you of the various milestones, both completed and pending.

The Graduate Program Committee will review this progress report. If there are no concerns included, and if the Committee sees no other problems, you will receive no response. Otherwise, a member of the Committee will contact or meet with you and/or your advisor to discuss the issues of concern.

Research affiliation and progress------

Research activity is an important part of our department’s life. The faculty feel it is very important that students get involved in research as quickly as possible, so we want to know if you’ve made any progress in that direction. Since support is an on-going concern for most students, we are also interested in efforts to receive outside funding.

Please list the lab or research group you are currently affiliated with and describe the nature and duration of that affiliation (e.g., “an RA for 5 semesters”).

Thesis proposal. You will be asked to propose your thesis topic within a year after being admitted to candidacy. What have you done or what are you planning to do to help prepare for that? Do you know what your topic will be? Have you discussed the topic with your advisor?

List your research publications or documents below. Be sure you include authors, year, title, and venue (journal or conference title), and the paper’s status (published, to appear, in submission, in preparation).
