Review of Previous meetings:

  • Boat hire- £5 per person, per day suggested. ET will be used as a trial (cap applied)
  • Direct Debit memberships- Signups are now active for renewal 1/10/10

Price will be the previous membership price (ie. £28)

Prize will be offered for all those signing up to DD, possibly by the end of ET

Items for attention:

Pre ET socials- Chevs will sort informal pub meet for Dive show Saturday, pub boat on the river suggested.

How to get trainees excited to join the committee- Talk to them at ET (once they’re hooked)

Reports:

CM:

Nothing interesting to say, but she did bring crisps and sweets so we’ll let her off.

DO:

No Fun diving as it’s been winter but that hasn’t stopped successful training, see ATO report, thanks to the instructors.

Will sort Emergency cylinder guidelines before ET

TO:

Pool training coming to an end

SD theory next Monday

ET numbers are still everywhere but it’s going to be quieter which will allow some advanced training and maybe even some diving!

There are some non-ET-going trainees so it may mean training weekends at some point

ATO:

DPM course - ran last weekend. Everyone got a lot out of it and now understand the requirements of running a trip. All were encouraged to come to the DP Meeting and run a trip to get some practice.

DL drills weekend - One new DL and the rest of the attendees have finished all their drills!!!! Hurrah! 'Twas very cold, so well done to all.

DL theory exam - to be run on the 26th.

Quick 02 course ran for last two Dl trainees and all went OK.

New Theory Instructor! (Susie Q)

AD drills - didn't run due to adverse weather conditions. Hopefully get some done at ET.

Coming up: - 02 refresher on the 21st.

That's it till after ET I think (queue sigh of relief!), SO....

A great big thanks to everyone who has attended/helped/arranged/advised on advanced training over the winter!

Post ET, we will revisit the calendar and see if there is anything missing/can be done while it is warmer...

Managing boat/equipment maintenance costs

Predicted over spend in equipment and boat maintenance (only received £2,360 from ULU this year):

  1. Reallocate under spend in ULU monies for safety-related training at the end of the financial year - will need approval by Angela
  2. Left over non capital equipment might be made available from ULU towards the end of the financial year - apply for this.
  3. Increase boat hire charges to £x per person per day, capped, [will be decided after trial at ET].
