Please come to the Coaches/Captain’s meeting at 10:10am on Saturday morning

to collect any new information and a team game-disc.

2. We are sharing the venue with a wedding on Saturday

The venue is also hosting a wedding party from 5pm on Saturday. This means:

  • No access to upstairs in the building at any time on Saturday.
  • All ultimate-related car-parking should be done on the gravel parking areas which are reached by TURNING RIGHT on entering the venue.

3. Parking Details

As highlighted above, everyone coming to play or watch Ultimate must park in the correct areas so that we do not cause inconvenience to the wedding party. On entering the gates of the venue, you must please turn RIGHT and park in the gravel area of the car park. The tarmac area of the car park is strictly for the wedding parking only. Please help us to respect our host venue’s requirements by parking in the right area and passing this information on to other people that are coming to the event.

4. Camping

Teams that camp are responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate levels of supervision. There is a map of the camping area. You must NOT camp on or close to the bowling area. The pavilion will be open overnight giving access to the toilets – please use the toilets! The venue have arranged for security guard to be onsite overnight.

The main car parking area at the venue will be locked overnight, so campers should move their cars, etc to the camping area – the entrance is further along Moor Lane (come out of the venue and turn right).

BBQ’s and camp-fires of any nature are strictly forbiddenon the grass and near the tents.

5. Toilets and Changing rooms

There are a large number of changing rooms and toilets on the ground floor of the building. Female changing/toilets will be clearly marked.

6. Eating and drinking.

There will be food for sale on-site from a mobile catering company between approx 9am and 3pm both days.

7. Water

We will be using small water bottles at fixed water points – we plan to put one between pitch 4 and D, and another at the end of pitch 7. Please do not remove water bottles even if you are planning to bring them back. Just fill your water bottles there as this makes it much easier for us to maintain a good supply of water.

Drinking water is of course also availablein the building, and we ask that players fill their own water bottles from taps whenever possible.

8. Rubbish

There are bins placed around the field. Please use them. Please clear your rubbish when you finish a game. Thanks!

9. Score Reporting

At this tournament, we will be collecting game scores in person.

10. Spirit of the Game

In Junior Nationals we will use the WFDF Spirit of the Game scoring system. We ask that teams bring back their spirit scores as soon as possible after each game. We recognise this will not always be immediately after the game finishes. Every team will receive a scoresheet and some information about filling in the scores. We ask that coaches support their teams in completing the scores and returning the information to the Tournament HQ desk.

In the Schools Championships we will be using a simpler system for awarding Spirit of the Game where we will ask each team to vote for a top 3 out of their opponents at the end of pool play.

10. Accidents and Emergencies

We will have a first aid team on site for the duration of the tournament. They will be based at their ambulance which will be clearly visible – either on or very close to the fields.

The nearest A&E departments are:

  • Birmingham City Hospital, Dudley Road, Birmingham, West Midlands, B18 7QH. A&E Tel: 0121 507 4770
  • Good Hope Hospital, Rectory Road,Sutton Coldfield,Birmingham,B75 7RR. A&E Tel 0121 424 7699

11. Schedule

The schedule and pitch maps will be made available separately to this pack. Each team will also be given a copy of both, upon checking in at the TD Desk on Saturday morning.

Games will start in both competitions at 10:30am on Sat morning. We are planning that the final of the Schools Championships will start at 4:00pm – and so we expect that awards ceremony will take place at approx 4:30pm.

On Sunday morning, games in the Junior division will start at 9:00am. The final will start at approx 3:30pm, with all other teams finished in time to watch. We expect the awards ceremony to be completed comfortably before 5pm.

12. Game Rules

All games in the Schools Championships have the following game rules:

  • Time-limit is 20 minutes.
  • Games are first to 11. There is no half-time, and there are no time-outs.
  • When time is over, finish the current point and then the game ends regardless of the score.

Draws are allowed in pool-play, but not in the final, where an additional “sudden death” point will be played if needed.

Junior Nationals

Details about length of games are shown on the schedule.

All games in Junior Nationals have the following game rules:

  • Games are first to 13.
  • There is a two-minute half time when one team reaches 7 points.
  • When time is over, finish the point and reduce the points-cap to the current highest score +1; never exceed 13. A new point starts as soon as the previous goal has been scored.
  • There is one two-minute time-out per team per game, which may be taken at any time (including the cap).

13. Conduct and player behaviour

Our sport and community has a great reputation with the venues that we use on a regular basis. Please do your bit to help make sure it stays that way! That means having respect for anyone and everyone else at the fields; respect for the venue itself; and showing great Spirit of the Game at all times – on and off the field.

And finally – a quick reminder about not taking discs that do not belong to you. A disc that doesn’t belong to you must obviously belong to someone else! So just leave it where it is and the owner will come and get it soon enough.

We wish you the best of luck for the weekend and hope you have a great time.
