SENIOR DOSIMETRIST

Reporting to:Operationally: Site Lead Radiographer

Job purpose:

to manage patient dosimetryand treatment planning on site

to manage treatment planning pathways for all patients on site

to carry out all aspects of patient dosimetry and treatment planning for patients on site and at other CPUK centres

Main duties and responsibilities:

manage the delivery of the patient dosimetryand treatment planning service on site to ensure all plans and patient dosimetry tasks are completed on time

management and oversight of patient schedules anddosimetry schedules to ensure optimal treatment planning pathways for all patients on site

ensure that a CPUK Medical Physics Expert (MPE) is specifically involved in any plan/treatment on site which is unusual or varies from standard policy/procedure, and that the MPE on site is aware of any such situation where another MPE has been involved

plan all aspects of treatment and patient dosimetry on site including: data import to TPS, virtual simulation, palliative planning, image fusion, contouring OARS and clinical structures; creation of conventional plans, conformal plans, forward planned IMRT; creating and optimising inverse planned IMRT plans; plan review with clinical oncologists; transfer of treatment plans into Mosaiq, finalising and approving treatment plan and treatment data in Mosaiq

treatment plan-checking

assist with patient dosimetry and treatment planning for other CPUK sites

work closely with radiographers, technologists and physicists carrying out any aspects of patient dosimetry and treatment planning for the site

liaise with clinical oncologists and assist them in all aspects of the planning process on-site and in utilising remote access functionality

ensure that all CPUK treatment planning policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff and clinical oncologists

assist and advisethe radiographers with pre-treatment tasks including CT scanning, creation of thermoplastic masks and other patient immobilisation techniques, liaising with physicists and clinical oncologists as necessary and appropriate

assist and advisethe radiographers in all aspects of the treatment process, including IGRT handover and review and dealing with patient setup issues, referring to physicists and clinical oncologists as necessary and appropriate

be involved in training and reviewing skills of all clinical staff on site in treatment planning and checking,and working with the Lead Physicist to ensure that up to date training records for these categories are in place for all staff

work as part of the CPUK physics anddosimetry team and contribute to the on-going improvement and continuous development of the patient dosimetryand treatment planning service across CPUK

flexible working, including:

-some travel to attend meetings and training and to work in other CPUK centres, and

-working some of your contractual hours outside of 9am-5pm or at weekends as necessary to fulfill the role, and to ensure optimal treatment plans and treatment planning pathways are achieved wherever possible

maintain own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with CPUK and professional standards

adhere to CPUK standards in respect of appearance, behaviour and demeanour

carry out any other duties appropriate for a post of this nature
