Modified Laws of the Game (Fall 2010)

KSA follows the “Laws of the Game” as published by FIFA with the exception of the below modifications

  1. Fouls:All fouls will be considered dangerous play and an indirect kick will be awarded.
  2. Penalty Kicks: Penalty kicks are not awarded in the U10 division.
  3. Handballs in the Penalty Area: Handballs in the penalty area are to be considered direct kicks (a goal can be scored directly from the kick). However, it should not be considered a penalty kick.
  4. Kickoff: A goal may not be scored directly at kick off (i.e. the first touch of the ball can not result in a goal) as the kicks are considered indirect kicks. If the team kicking off kicks the ball into the goal on a player’s first touch without it touching another player, no goal is awarded. Instead, the ball is given to the opposing team and play is restarted with a goal kick.
  5. Slide Tackling: Slide tackling is not permitted.
  6. No heading of the ball is allowed. Doing so will result in an indirect kick.
  7. Playing the ball out of the back: Whether the keeper is in possession of the ball, or a goal kick is awarded, the ball must be played out of the back on the ground. Punting of the ball is not allowed. The ball should be played out of the back either with feet or with a side arm throw from the keeper. The opposing team must retreat to half field until the ball is touched by player the keeper plays the ball to.
