MINIKIDS 3rd JULY 2017
The first Minikids got underway with just a few teething problems and although numbers were not as high as expected, they were enough to make it worthwhile for all involved.
Firstly, thanks go to Annie Truscott who made a special journey to open up the tuck shop which is a great asset to the event. Thanks also go to Terry Cairney, Fiona Carlyon, Chris Harris and Julie Howe who literally all came straight from work to help out.
Clive Marsh and Clive Pengelly did a sterling job looking after the track races and thanks also go to Joe Bacon, Lewis Pascoe and Aidan Patton who gave up their time to help run the show. And finally thanks go to Kaya Cairney whose clear and precise announcing kept everyone up to speed.

The final field event of the day was the long jump and luckily the weather kept dry for us and despite a number of competitors finishing off in the shot putt or running a 600m, the event finished just a few minutes later than expected.
Obviously, the next meeting on 17th July 2017 will be a bit more difficult to predict finishing times as the field events are Javelin and high jump. There is a possibility that we may swap the start times around in order to ensure that all athletes have a fair crack at the event, without too many competitors running across the fields.
