U of A Ag Club General Meeting Minutes

Ag-For 113

President Monika Ross called the meeting to order at 5:02pm.

There were 45 members present.

Officer Reports

Secretary - Bronwen Gould

-Bronwen read the minutes from January 6, 2010 and moved that the minutes be adopted as read. Bryce seconded. Carried.

Chief Financial Officer - Mark Hagen

-The current balance is $34, 014.97.

-Thank you to everyone who went to OCR the first Thursday of the winter semester: we made more than $100.

VP Social - Matthew Gould

-Not present.

-Aggie of the Month: Brianna Fletcher

-Pit Lounger of the Month: Jordan Bremmekamp

VP External - Sydney Vos

-Rock the Farm went well. It was held in conjunction with the Alberta Agricultural Society; there were 800 people present. Sydney recommends the event.

VP Academic - Ingrid Buyks

-The recipient of the Ag Club Teaching Award needs to be chosen.

-Last year´s recipient was Barry Irving.

Keleisha nominated Doug Korver

Jordan Burke nominated Erasmus Okine

Monika nominated Dean Spaner

Mark nominated Ed Bork

-The nominators spoke as to why the professor they nominated deserved the award. A vote was held and Doug Korver was chosen to receive the Teaching Award at grad this year.

Public Relations - Lexi Hoy

-The clothing order is in. You must pay before you get your clothing. Lexi will be in the pit tomorrow from 9:30 to 11:00.

4th Year Rep - Liz Simpson

-Congratulations to Fawn for placing first and to Ashley for placing second in the MacGregor Smith speaking competition.

3rd Year Rep - Jolene Noble

-The grad class is having a hypnotist fundraiser tomorrow at 7:30 in Convocation Hall. Tickets are $10 and will be available after the meeting.

2nd Year Rep - Amy Mayner

-Amy is trying to get the fax machine fixed. If you need to fax something, go to Student Services.

-The photocopier still works.

1st Year Rep - Lucas Bell

-NTR

Ladies´ Sports - Ashley Reinhardt

-Women´s hockey is now over.

-Co-rec basketball starts after reading week.

Men´s Sports - Skylar Bieleny

-Hockey is going well.

Bar None Directors - Brianne Bergerud, Brandon Thompson, Farley Gould

-Hand in your mini-director reports to receive your gifts.

-Bar None profit is approximately $12, 000.

-Brandon moved the Ag Club donate $6, 000 to STARS Air Ambulance. Skylar seconded. Carried.

-The faculty would like to write an article about Bar None and our STARS donation, so we might have a group photo taken.

Old Business

ALES Week

-186 people attended the formal and the Aggies were well represented.

Curling Weekend

-Many people cannot go due to midterms. Several of the teams are not Aggies and the event is running a deficit. Therefore curling weekend is cancelled. Next year curling weekend will be held in early January to avoid midterms.

New Business

Pig Roast

-Pig roast is usually held in the end of March or early April. The proposed date is Saturday, March 27, 2010. It is held in the CropScienceBuilding at the Farm. There is usually a theme.

-Keleisha moved that nominations for Pig Roast Directors open. Ryan seconded. Carried.

Keleisha nominated Jordan Bremmekamp Accepted

Jordan Bremmekamp nominated Heather Accepted

-Brittany moved that nominations close. Lucas seconded.

-The nominees gave speeches and a vote of confidence was held. Jordan and Heather are the 2010 Pig Roast directors.

Executive Elections

-Ag Club executive elections will be held in March, so start thinking about running for a position.

Bar None Director Speeches

-Jolene Noble, Steve Cowen, and Jordan Burke gave their speeches.

-Ben Farrant withdrew his nomination.

-A vote of confidence of 50% is necessary. Voting will be held after the meeting and in the pit tomorrow.

Heather moved that the meeting be adjourned at 5:44pm.
