World Day of Prayer Annual Cycle

How does each World Day of Prayer unfold? Here's a quick outline:

Two years prior to World Day of Prayer (WDP):

The women of the host country begin work on their service, writing around the theme they selected. The writing country is chosen by the World Day of Prayer International Committee (WDPIC)

One year prior to the WDP:

The women of the host country deliver their completed service to WDPIC for translation and distribution to the national coordinating organization.

April-August:

Coordinators begin sending in offerings received in at their World Day of Prayer celebration. WICC issues tax receipts for offerings received in the amount of $20.00 or more.

WICC also produces the Canadian WDP printed materials for the upcoming World Day of Prayer.

September:

WICC prepares the worship booklets and leadership guides. WICC also puts the finishing touches on the DVD for use in World Day of Prayer celebrations and presses the music CD.

October:

If you are this year's coordinator for World Day of Prayer, expect a letter from us this month. If you do not get a letter, pleasecontact the WICC officeso we can get one out to you right away.

November:

Planning committees start meeting to decide how they want to present their World Day of Prayer service in their community and some place orders for their materials. If you need an extra order form for materials you can find a printable versionhere.

Please note that orders are accepted by phone only on or after the first business day in February (Thursday, February 1 in 2018).

December:

WICC's office closes just before Christmas and reopens just after New Year's, ready to ship any materials you have ordered.

January:

Receive the order. Ship the order. Repeat. Sound boring? Not for the WICC office! Our priority is to help you with your World Day of Prayer celebration.

February:

If you have not yet placed your order for World Day of Prayer materials, it's not too late! To help get your order inqueue, we start taking order by phone on the first business day this month. The last day we can ship an order is two weeks before your World Day of Prayer date.

March:

The World Day of Prayer is usually held on the first Friday in March (March 2 in 2018). This being Canada, March weather can be unpredictable and it gets dark early. If another date works better for your community, please feel free to set a different date.
