Dear Parents,
As the year progresses, we ask that you continue working with your children on their homework assigned by their teachers. Anytime you have questions, contact their teachers so they are able to help. If you’d like for them to do more, take time each night and read a book with them to show them the importance and power of reading!

What is Title 1 and how does it impact Harding?

Title I is a federal program to support achievement in reading and mathematics in schools with a large amount of economically disadvantaged students. We, at Harding receive Title I funds, along with all other elementary school in the district. The funds are able to be used in a variety of different ways, listed below.

1)Additional Staff – We have two reading specialists through Title I funds in order to support students in literacy.

2)Early Identification and Intervention – Students are assessed and receive additional help in order to best meet their specific learning needs via extra help with teachers, classroom strategies, and computer programs.

3)Family Engagement – We ask all parents to be involved in their child’s learning. Harding PTO, Family Night Out activities and various other school events.
