December 17, 2016

Dear Parents,

Here is a quick peek at next week (Dec. 19-22) to let you know what will be going on here at school!

Monday, 12/19—Day 2 Music Reading Logs are due today. Students may begin bringing in board games to play at our holiday party on Thursday. Please do not send electronic hand-held games. The idea is for us to have fun interacting and playing together. Remember to label games with your child’s name (post-it notes work well).

Tuesday, 12/20—Day 3 Phy. Ed. Please help your child remember to bring gym shoes.

Wednesday, 12/21--Day 4 Media--Kids, please return books you are finished with so you can check new ones out for break!

Thursday, 12/22--Day 5 We will not have Music today due to the school-wide read-a-thon. Our class party will be from 1:30-2:30 today. I will send a Reading/Math Log home today. The log for this week and the one for break week will be due when we return to school on January 3rd. Please join me in encouraging your child to read over break.

Friday, 12/23--Today is the first day of winter break--enjoy!

Reminders: all students will need to have two more AR tests taken for December by Tuesday, January 3rd. If you have internet access, it would also be great if your child could spend some time on Moby Max working on Fact Master, Math, and Reading Stories. Even 3 days for 25-30 minutes is very beneficial. Keep it in mind if you begin to hear “I’m bored”, or “There’s nothing to do”, etc.

Several students were caught off guard on Friday when they went outside for recess. Please note that they will only stay inside for recess if the temp or wind chill is below 0. It is important for kids to have all their cold weather gear every day. Please also help your child get into the routine of bringing shoes to wear during the day. I have had several students wearing their boots all day, which makes it hard to get around safely and comfortably. Thanks for your help!

I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season, and that you can relax and enjoy your time with family and friends. Thank you for sharing your children with me. They are a caring, wonderful group of kids. It is a privilege to work with them. Thank you also for all of your help and support. I truly appreciate all you do for your children and for me. Have a great week, a merry Christmas, and a very happy New Year!
