TSO Launch AccessTix Project for 2018 at October 19 Event
The TSO is committed to providing opportunities for every Tasmanian to experience world-class orchestral music, live in the concert hall. To further this goal, the AccessTix program was introduced in 2011 through a unique partnership originally developed between the TSO and Hydro Tasmania, later expanded in 2017 through the participation of the Allport Bequest, to enable Tasmanians experiencing disadvantage to have special access to complimentary concert tickets.
Each year AccessTix provides over 600 complimentary concert tickets to disadvantaged people across Tasmania. Stephen Davy, CEO of Hydro Tasmania, is proud to support a program which makes such a profound difference to the lives of many living with physical and intellectual disability, economic disadvantage, social isolation or mental illness.
“We care about improving and enriching the lives of Tasmanians. And we’re very mindful that Hydro’s connection with and duty towards the Tasmanian community goes well beyond that of most other businesses,” Mr Davy said.
“The beauty of orchestral music should belong to everyone, and the AccessTix program is a wonderful way of giving people the opportunity to enjoy it.
“In particular, the TSO is Tasmanians’ orchestra, and a source of great pride. Every Tasmanian should get the opportunity to experience it first-hand.
“We’re delighted to be playing our role in making that happen,” he said.
The opportunity provided by AccessTix to regularly attend concerts by the TSO makes a remarkable difference to the lives of many Tasmanians. Pauline, a client of Lifeline’s CHATS program which aims to assist older Tasmanians to experience a greater quality of life, finds that AccessTix enables her to enjoy the TSO’s concerts,.
Pauline says “The TSO Concerts are absolutely wonderful. My late husband was a professional musician so I had music in my life for over 60 years. The last concert I attended I felt like I was floating above the music, it was so beautiful.”
To celebrate the launch of the TSO’s exciting 2018 subscription season program, The TSO is holding a 2018 AccessTix Concert Program launch on Thursday 19 October. Community Organisation Program Managers and their clients have invited to come along and hear more about the AccessTix and the 2018 program, enjoy a Mini TSO performance, followed by afternoon tea.
If you think you, or someone you know, might be eligible for AccessTix tickets, or if you want more information about the program, please contact the TSO directly by emailing
