TSF meeting at Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regents Park Road, London NW1 7AY

Saturday28 April 2018, 09:30 – 17:00

On 28 April the Traditional Song Forum will be meeting at Cecil Sharp House as guests of the English Folk Dance and Song Society.

When the Forum was founded there was a general view that the Internet and the growth of electronic media would lead to a reduction in the quantity of printed books and journals about traditional song. While there have been major changes in the production and retail of hard copy books, the flow of new books published has not decreased as much as had been feared. Indeed, digital printing technology and ‘print on demand’ processes have opened possibilities for writers and small, specialist publishers. The afternoon session ‘A Strange Survival – Putting Songs into Print’ will look at various aspects of publishing traditional song via the printed page and will include some case studies. The day will conclude with a question and answer session where we can explore issues related to print media and learn from the experience of TSF members with experience in the area.

Like all TSF meetings, this event is open to all without charge(though donations would be welcome).
