Post:TrustsFundraising Officer

Working hours:Full-Time (37.5 hours per week) (Part-time will be considered for the right candidate)

Salary:£27 – 30k per annum pro-rata (depending on experience)

Reports to: Fundraising Manager

Accountable to:CEO & Clinical Director

Working with: The role involves working primarily within the Fundraising Team, with regular contact with the Monitoring Evaluation and Research Team, theClinical Administration Team, as well as project managers, and senior management.

Purpose of the post:

The purpose of the role is to support the Fundraising Manager to cultivate and manage income generation from trusts and foundations, and small statutory grants. The post-holder will support the growth of unrestricted and restricted income by carefully researching opportunities, developing relationships, writing compelling and tailored applications and reporting on existing grants.

The Trusts Fundraising Officer is part of the fundraising team. The post holder will also work closely with project managers to increase funding required to support existing long-term projects.

Results orientated, you will have strong research ability and good interpersonal skills, together with a flexible and proactive approach. Key responsibilities

-To work with the Fundraising Manager to maximise trust and foundations income for the Brent Centre

-Achieve agreed financial and non-financial objectives in line with the fundraising plan

-Cultivate and manage existing relationships with trusts and foundations, working closely with the Fundraising Manager

-To develop good relationships and maintain excellent communication channels with colleagues

Job specification: Tasks and Responsibilities

Securing income

-Work with the Fundraising Manager to develop and deliver a targeted and strategic programme of trust fundraising to achieve agreed annual income targets

-With support from the Fundraising Manager and in collaboration with project managers systematically identify and strategise a pipeline of applications for both restricted and unrestricted giving

Prospects identification and proposal development

-Identify new trusts and foundations to drive the pipeline for the trust income streams

-To proactively identify, research and prioritise new trusts that are strong funding prospects for the Brent Centre

-Work with the Fundraising Manager to identified projects for funding

-To develop appropriate and compelling case for support and produce tailored written funding applications of the highest quality for Brent Centre projects and programmes. Work with colleagues in other teams to obtain necessary activity and budget information

Account management and donor care

-Develop and manage current trusts relationships

-To set up and manage a quarterly meeting cycle to smaller trusts, growing income from this group while streamlining processes to ensure it remains low maintenance

-Maintain a trusts applications calendar, monitoring success rate and return on ask

-Workclosely with the Fundraising manager and project managers to ensure that any reporting or other obligations attached to grants and contracts are fulfilled effectively and in a way that strengthens relationships

-Use the fundraising database to maintain accurate records

General

-Part of the role consists in working with the Communications Officer as necessary in the organisation of fundraising events, conferences, Marathon etc. and to contribute to the preparation of Annual Review and fundraising communications

-Keep up to date with the major issues pertaining to young people’s mental health as well as to do the donor environment

-To maintain an awareness of trends, developments, legal framework and best practice relating to trust fundraising, and to fundraising, charity and young people’s mental health sectors in general

-Represents the Brent Centre at external trusts networking groups, as appropriate

-To liaise and collaborate with Brent centre staff as appropriate to achieve purpose

-To attend and contribute constructively to team meetings and other meetings as required

-To undertake a range of administrative duties in support of your own work

-To undertake any other reasonable activity in line with the responsibilities of the post and as requested by the Fundraising Manager, the CEO & Clinical Director, or senior managers

Trusts Fundraising Officer / Executive

Person Specification
Essential

Experience and Education

  • Minimum two years’ experience in trusts fundraising or equivalent work
  • Track record of successful fundraising from trusts and foundations
  • Educated to graduate level or equivalent
  • Experience of contributing to fundraising strategies and plans in line with organisational plans
  • Experience of working in a target led environment with a proven track record of delivering against targets

Technical skills and expertise

-Understanding of trusts fundraising

-Strong analytical skills

-Experience of working with fundraising databases (preferably eTapestry or Raiser’s Edge) or willingness and ability to learn to work with a database

-High level of proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet and E-mail

-Ability to understand funding guidelines

-Ability to tailor funding applications to funders’ requirements and interests

Contract Terms:

Post:Permanent

Working Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Probation: 6 months

Start date: February/March 2017

Location: London, UK

Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending upon experience)

Leave: 25 days pa (pro-rata for part-time), increasing by one day for each year’s service up to a maximum of 4 additional days

Pension: Employer will contribute 3% of basic monthly salary into the workplace pension scheme for each eligible employee.

Other: As defined in standard Brent Centre for Young People contract terms
