JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:Trusts and Statutory Fundraising Manager

ACCOUNTABLE TO:Community Services Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: Community Fundraiser

LOCATION:Edmund House, Fulbourn

HOURS:25 hours per week (due to the nature of the post, there is a requirement for the postholder to occasionally work outside their normal contracted working hours. On such occasions, those hours worked would constitute part of their contracted weekly hours)

JOB PURPOSE:To proactively develop relationships with grant givers from charitable trusts, local and national government, the corporate sector - preparing both specific and general proposals and progress reports. To research and identify new opportunities and build the income generation potential and achievements of the fundraising team and Cambridgeshire Mencap as a whole.

To support other income generating activities of Cambridgeshire Mencap, especially community fundraising initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve annual and longer-term income targets as agreed with the Community Services Manager.
  • Maintain and develop existing relationships with all grant givers to enhance the income received from them.
  • Generate new opportunities to raise income from all grant sources.
  • Research charitable trusts and foundations, government funding and other sources of grant aid and identify those that might support the work of Cambridgeshire Mencap and target them with appropriate approaches.
  • Line management responsibility for the Community Fundraiser post
  • Work with members of the Community Services Team and others to identify and assist in developing the best way to enhance the opportunities available for grant funding for current and future projects.
  • Develop and prepare well-written and targeted applications for project and non-project funding, using where possible the principles of full cost recovery, in able to maximise restricted and unrestricted income.
  • To keep the Community Services Manager informed of all developments relating to grant income including preparing and submitting monthly progress reports, monitoring research, analysis of current grant income, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting appropriate changes.
  • Maintain and update the Donor Strategy database with all information related to the grant income portfolio, with financial, biographical and personal information and all correspondence and ensure that such information is stored and maintained securely and in keeping with data protection legislation and regulation.
  • To take responsibility for the preparation of project user and external-relationship related information that could be used to update the Cambridgeshire Mencap website and provide material for the newsletter, brochures, case studies, information leaflets, etc, and enhance grant income. This will include writing new articles and case studies.
  • Assist and otherwise support the Community Fundraiser with research, soliciting and recording of donations, legacies, eventsand other forms of non-grant funding.
  • To work with the Finance Controller and other members of the fundraising team to ensure that daily records of income received are maintained and communicated to the finance department in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure that the records of the Donor Strategy database tally with the management and other accounts.
  • At all times to act in a way that will encourage supporters and potential supporters of Cambridgeshire Mencap.
  • To carry out duties and responsibilities in line with Cambridgeshire Mencap corporate policy, employment legislation, equal opportunities legislation and other best practice guidelines.
  • Be prepared to undergo internal and external training both of a related professional nature and in keeping with the ethos of Cambridgeshire Mencap.
  • Participate in team meetings and in supervision meetings.
  • Adhere to the Health & Safety Policy
  • Adhere to confidentiality and security of information at all times and in line with the Data Protection Act
  • Assume any other related duty that may not unreasonably from time to time be required.
