TRURO SCHOOL DRAMA WORKSHOP

Thank you for enquiring about Truro school Drama workshop. The workshop will give your child the opportunity to make friends, have fun and develop some great skills led by our experienced team within the Burrell Theatre at Truro School.

Please find all the information below that you will need about the camp.

CAMP DETAILS:

The workshop with be taking place at Truro School’sBurrell Theatre on Tuesday 3rd April 2018 0830-1700.

Age range 6-14 years old.

COST:

The cost of the camp will be £25 per day. This price includes hot lunch.

Full payment and a completed application form are required to confirm your place. Upon receiving payment and registration form you will receive an e-mail confirming your acceptance to the Drama workshop and your place will be reserved.PLEASE NOTE: PAYMENT MUST BE MADE WITHIN 48 HOURS (2 WORKING DAYS) OR YOUR CHILD WILL LOSE THEIR PLACE ON THE CAMP.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

After registration the children will have an opportunity to get to know each other and make friends and well as learning some new drama skills throughout the day.

Your child does not need any previous dancing, singing or acting experience, just a willingness to have a go and have fun.

0945 - 1030 / Games and exercises and an opportunity to try out a variety of drama techniques on the Burrell Theatre stage.
1030 – 1045
Break
1045 - 1230 / Drama workshop including physical theatre, characterisation and improvisation.
1230 – 1315
Lunch / Hot Lunch in the dining hall
1315 - 1645 / Devising pieces of drama around the theme of Mistaken Identity. A chance to think about how we perceive people and how we react to different circumstances.
1645 – 1700 / Pick up at the sports centre

ABOUT THE BURRELL THEATRE

The Burrell Theatre is a 170 seat theatre belonging to Truro School. It benefits from professional lighting and sound kit and is run by a Theatre Manager and a Technical Services Manager. We also have a workshop space, a technical store, and a wardrobe and props store. The theatre is used for school productions, a wide range of school events, and also hosts a variety of external professional shows.

ABOUT THE DRAMA TEACHER/S

Ben Oldfield is Truro School’s Director of Drama. He trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has worked as a professional actor, director and playwright for over twenty years. Prior to teaching at Truro School, Ben was a founder member of cube essential theatre.

Sally Crooks studied clowning at the Ecole Philip Gaulier in Paris. She has toured extensively as an actress with many companies including Cornwall’s Miracle, Rogue and Cube Theatre and is also a founding member of Trifle Gathering Productions. Trifle tells human stories that explore the human condition through comedy. Its style thrives within the live event, revels in playfulness and continuously explores the endless possibilities of the audience-performer relationship.

LUNCH:

Children will eat all their meals at the Truro School Dining Hall where various options will be available to ensure they get plenty to eat and maintain a balanced diet. If you have any particular dietary requirements please let us know at the time of booking.

SUPERVISION/HEALTH & WELFARE:

Experienced coaches and members of Truro School staff will supervise children throughout the day. All employees are required to have passed a DBS check before being employed with the programme. They are responsible for the health and welfare of all children. If a child is feeling unwell, the staff will contact the parent or guardian as soon as possible.

CHECK IN/OUT INFO

Children should arrive at the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre for registration between 0830-0845. All children should be collected from the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports centre between 1645-1700. If you need to collect you child earlier please let us know.If you collect your child/children after 1700 there will be a £5 charge per child.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Joining instructions – All persons wishing to attend the Drama workshop must complete a registration form and make full payment before the date of the camp. Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. All booking forms must be e-mailed to

Payment – Drama workshop fees must be paid in full on booking to secure a place. Your place on the workshop will not be guaranteed until payment in full and the completed application form have been received. PLEASE NOTE: PAYMENT MUST BE MADE WITHIN 48 HOURS (2 WORKING DAYS) OR YOUR CHILD WILL LOSE THEIR PLACE ON THE CAMP. Fees can be paid by cheque, credit/debit card or cash.

Cash: Direct to Sir Ben Ainslie sports centre

Cheque: Made payable to; Truro school enterprises, given direct to Sir Ben Ainslie Sports centre.

Card: Call the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports centre on 01872 246050quoting the child’s name for the Activity camp.

Cancellation – We regret that no refund will be given if the course is not attended. The person named on the application form may be substituted with another person at no extra charge. Written notification, in advance, is required to substitute an attendee.

Refunds – Refunds will only be given in the event of the course being cancelled by Truro School. All fees paid will be forfeited by anyone cancelling a course within two weeks of the course start date.

Safety Regulations – For safety and comfort of attendees, the rules and guidelines of THE Burrel theatremust be observed at all times.

Behaviour – Truro school reserves the right to send anyone home who demonstrates unreasonable behaviour or acts in an abusive or disruptive manner towards participants or staff.

Smoking – Truro school is a non-smoking campus, therefore smoking is strictly prohibited.

Personal loss or injury – Truro school cannot accept responsibility for any personal loss or injury. Participants should state any medical or past injury prior to the start of the camp.

Photographs – Names and photographs may be taken and used electronically for marketing purposes by Truro school – any objections will be respected.

Medical cover – First aid cover is available throughout the course. By signing the application form you are agreeing to this treatment, if required, unless written objection is received in advance.

Data protection – We will treat your personal information as private and confidential, except where disclosure is made at your request or with your consent or where we are required by law to disclose. We will only use your information for the purposes of administration in relation to the course named overleaf. We will never pass your personal information to third parties outside Truro School.
