Official 2018 Nomination Form – Marketing Excellence

Tourism Westman annually recognizes the outstanding individuals, businesses, organizations and communities within the region that have made significant contributions to the local tourism industry through the Tributes to Tourism initiative.

NOMINATION ELIGIBILITY

Nominations should be based on recent activities. As a general guideline, activities that occur up to 18 months prior to the date of nomination will be considered recent. Nominees must be part of the tourism industry in Southwest Manitoba.

Self nominations are accepted and encouraged.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Nominations for the 15th Annual Tribute to Tourism Awards will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018. Nominations will only be accepted by email prior to the deadline.

Multiple category nominations are accepted, but separate forms must be submitted for each category. Tourism Westman reserves the right to re-categorize or reject nominations at our discretion.

Nominators must indicate on the nomination form that the nominee is aware of and accepts their nomination.

EVALUATION

A panel of tourism industry representatives selected by the Tourism Westman Board of Directors will examine all entries. All decisions are final.

Each question on the nomination form is assigned a weight relative to the total score. The weighting of each question varies, depending on the number of questions and the nature of the questions in each category.

The judges will impartially evaluate the responses to the questions and assign each response a score. The scores for each question are tallied to determine each nominee’s total score. The average score is then tallied based on the number of judges for the category.

SUPPORTING MATERIALS

Unless otherwise stated, supporting materials are not mandatory, nor will they have points assigned to them. They may be used to augment or clarify information provided in the nomination and may be useful in situations where nominees are deemed to be very close in merit by the panel of judges. Submitted supporting materials will not be returned to the nominator, unless otherwise requested.

NOMINEE RECOGNITION

All nominees will receive a Tribute to Tourism Certificate and one complimentary ticket to the Tribute to Tourism Awards Gala where the winners will be announced.

All winning entries will be submitted to Travel Manitoba by Tourism Westman for the chance to advance to the Manitoba Tourism Awards.

The Marketing Excellence Tribute recognizes a business, organization, event, or attraction that has developed an effective traditional, digital or social media marketing campaign that increases tourism to Southwest Manitoba.

The recipient of the award will be a campaign that:

• Converts campaign expenditures into interest in Southwest MB’s tourism products and visitation;

• Attracts a significant amount of public/media awareness of Southwest MB.

1.Describe the goals of the marketing campaign, including the target markets and any market research or analysis. (20 points – 350 words max/2100 characters max)

2.Describe the marketing campaign’s execution, including key messages and activities. Include any innovative approaches or creative techniques. (30 points – 350 words max/2100 characters max)

3.Provide supporting documents that demonstrate the highlights of the campaign. Please email documents as PDFs or JPEGs with this nomination form. (20 points)

4.What were the results of the campaign? Include specific performance measures (e.g. quantified visitation increase; quantified revenue increase, quantified conversion of inquiries into visits, different results than in past campaigns, collaboration with other tourism partners, increase and improvement in social media performance, etc) (30 points – 350 words max/2100 characters max)
