Welcome to the January 2016 Scholarship Newsletter.
It's time to remind you about Credit Union Scholarships. Credit Unions all over the country offer high school students scholarships. Most Credit Union Scholarships are for high school seniors with application deadlines in March, so contact local credit unions for their information.
The deadline for the Optimist International Essay Contest varies by district, so it is mentioned here (the deadlines are typically in January and February). If you have an interest, check out the link and find your local deadline.
Those of you who are Children or family members of Active-duty Police and Firefightersyou should keep checking that page as scholarships come due throughout the year.

American Meteorological Society (AMS) Minority Scholarship

National Co-op Scholarship Program

100 Scholarship Program

Contact: Eligibility: Undergraduate student or high schoolstudent must be transitioning to college with a minimum GPA of 2.5, be attending a post-secondary,accredited institution or planning to attend, be planning to attend school for entire academic year beginningin the Fall, have completed 50 hours of “active” community service within past 12-months with certifieddocumentation, and have leadership involvement. Georgia Regents University – Medical College of Georgia – Igniting the Dream of Medicine High School and Undergraduate Conference. Saturday, February 17, 2016 from 8:30am – 4:00pm. Participate in hands on simulation/lab and mock interviews; network with Medical College Deans, Program Administrators, and faculty; learn about admissions, the MCAT, and more about the BS/MD Program. Presented by the Office of Student & Multicultural Affairs and the Student National Medical Association.

Georgia State University’s website has several scholarships still available for students accepted to attend. If you plan to apply to GSU, submit your application soon in order to qualify for their in-house scholarships.

Georgia Southwestern offersnumerous scholarships to incoming freshmen. Exceptional applicants are invited to attend the Southwestern Scholars Competition where they will interview and compete for their share of more than $600,000 in scholarship money awarded annually. To apply:

Andrew College – Pitts Academic Scholarship Competition awards 2 full academic scholarships (tuition, room and board). Minimum requirements: Acceptance to Andrew College, 3.0 GPA or higher, minimum SAT 460CR & 460M or minimum ACT 19E & 19M, and record of leadership and/or service to school, community or church. To apply: Deadline: March 11, 2016. Other scholarships are also available.

Jacksonville State University offers over 200 general scholarships. ACT composites of 20+ or SAT minimums of 950+ may qualify for tuition scholarships. Must apply to JSU by March 1st and complete scholarship application at
