Trends in macrocycle peptide development

The macrocyclic peptidedata explorer, presented by SciBX and Relay Technology Management

Welcome to the Macrocyclic Peptide Explorer. This interactive visualization tool is intended to help users explore the trends and investments made in the macrocyclic peptide space in the past 15 years. Below is a brief description of the analysis, its visualization and more technical details of the analysis methods.

This analysis involves a pipeline view, IP analysis and trend analysis of publications and NIH grants. There are four tabs that allow for navigation of the relevant information:

  • Macrocycle pipeline—Allows users to explore the current macrocyclic peptide clinical and preclinical assets and search by company, target or lead clinical indication. It also shows the transactional volume for all companies in the space; this includes both licensing and venture transaction. Links are provided to the company website and any relevant press releases or announcements.
  • IP detail—Lists relevant pieces of IP by assignee and individual filings by quarter over the last 15 years. This Dashboard can be queried by inventor and can also be used to compare the IP space for individual companies. All data have direct links to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office raw document.
  • IP trends—Looks at the year-on-year trends in IP filling and issuance around cyclic peptides. This is meant to inform the temporal trends around the space.
  • Research trends—Looks at the year-on-year trends in NIH funding and publications around cyclic peptides. This is meant to inform the temporal trends around the space.

Filters

The filters, which are located in the right-hand margin, enable users to filter out which data points are displayed within the visualizations. Type in any search term and click return to auto-suggest entries.

Technical details

Over 3.7 million published documents indexed by Medline, press releases, patents and NIH between January 2001 and March 2013 were processed by Relay’s proprietary Relay Innovation Engine. This analysis process is entirely automated.

Using the Dashboard

Filters for the Dashboard can be found on the right-hand side of the interface. All filters will alter the visualization dynamically. You will notice the interface updating after each filter is changed. Raw data can be downloaded by hitting the download button located at the bottom of the Dashboard. To reset the view, click the 'revert' or 'refresh' buttons found at the bottom of the Dashboard.
